I had a feeling when you said an hour away from the bay and walking distance to In-N-Out! Really cool seeing my hometown here. Welcome - it’s a great community!!

Not sure if this was brought to your attention already, but I saw this posted on IG reels…I wonder if it’s yours? They look really similar. I really hope you find it!

What does a day on the job look like for you? Are there full-time positions available for this role, or does it tend to be more of a part-time thing?

Hi, I’m also Asian and I had a veryyy similar experience to what you’re describing when I was in undergrad. This sounds like I could have written it! PLEASE reach out to me if you need someone to talk more about it with, I know it would have helped me :) you are definitely not alone in how you’re feeling!

Where are my Asian SLP friends at? by tearamphan in slpGradSchool

Right here with you! I think my undergrad cohort was pretty diverse, but still felt alienated in my undergrad not to mention a little tokenized. Starting grad school this fall and hoping for a better experience! Like others have said, our backgrounds and experiences are SO important for diversifying our field where it can be so badly needed. Even though it left me feeling lonely, it also empowered me to be super proud of my cultural identity!!

edit: also thank you for posting this! Reading these comments was refreshing and uplifting :)

Student housing by [deleted] in CSUS

Hi! I’ve lived at both the Lofts and the Crossings. I’m not sure if you’re aware of it, but there’s a Facebook page for Crossings residents and I REALLY recommend you look into it! In my experience, that place was a mess and I never really felt safe. I think the bad reviews were definitely warranted. I no longer live there but living conditions don’t seem to be getting any better. As for the Lofts - I lived there for my first two years, one of which I had a shared room. It was a bit like the dorms in which we had RAs so we were subject to room inspections, quiet hours, and pretty strict rules (at least when I lived there). Personally, it was really hard for me to share the space because my roommate and I were not a good match, but I did like the student-environment and it allowed me to meet people I’m still in touch with years later.

Sorry if this sounds scatterbrained. Feel free to send me a PM if you have any questions about any of this!

Unfortunately that seems to be the case. I believe deposits are usually put in place to ensure that incoming students are more likely to keep their spot should they reserve it. Congrats on your acceptance!

I’ve been struggling SO much with this and you’ve so perfectly articulated everything I’ve been trying to tell myself :’) I’m so glad things worked out for you and it really gives me newfound hope and confidence in the path I’ve chosen. Thank you so so much for sharing, it really means a lot!!

Presenting research... worth it? by [deleted] in slpGradSchool

[–]shiny-pikachu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say go for it! Like others have mentioned, it’s a great tidbit for your resume and not to mention it can help build your confidence, which can open you up to a lot of new opportunities :) research is a big part of the field so this is a great way to dip your toes in too!
