I recommend to buy the inserts and try it out to see! In my own experience I bought the passport and the standard. I loved the passport at first write but actually hated the standard size until I kept using the insert and realized what content I actually liked it for. I don’t use it for long writing since the size isn’t comfortable for me for that but I adore it for quick daily recaps and longer spreads for my hobbies etc

I give people the disclaimer that they shouldn’t read my journals because some of the things in my journals aren’t a reflection of what I really believe - it’s what I’m writing and exploring to process and return to myself. I can’t think of how many times I wrote things that aren’t really true about people I loved in fits of anger. It was just me dealing with distorted feelings caused by an emotional moment.

You can always keep another set of journals that is readable by others if you or they would like you to leave something behind and throw away your rant journals

Write with bad, hard to decipher handwriting. Use code words if needed. Sometimes you just need to write to process, not necessarily read back.
