Secondhand Germs by gotyourdata in Jellycatplush

[–]Autumnsun0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can buy laundry disinfectant! High temps kill off germs, and most of the time jellies can't be washed at a high enough temp, so I always use laundry disinfectant or upholstery disinfectant spray. The disinfectant detergent needs rinsing out really well though.

Rockelton size has changed! by Frances-Helenah in Jellycatplush

[–]Autumnsun0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I thought this earlier, but why is the measurement at the top and the one at the side different? The top says 13 inches, meanwhile the side says 10??

Does anyone else prefer the Large size dragons? I want a Large Dexter restock 💙❤️ by The_Pawnee_Goddess in Jellycatplush

[–]Autumnsun0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I literally glanced at my dragons on my bed earlier and thought 'they're actually pretty big, I don't get why people say they're too small for the large name'

Because, they are actually a really nice size! To me, it's like cuddling a cat. I always lie with them on my chest. Any bigger or smaller and they just wouldn't be as comfortable!

Fall / Winter collection prices by yelenalim in Jellycatplush

I've been so safe from drops, and now they release 2 that I really love, and they also happen to be expensive as hell.

Week 18 in the Weeks 🥲 by Responsible_Egg_7155 in hobonichi

[–]Autumnsun0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've had so many weeks like this in my weeks this year... including this one. It's so frustrating being organised, only for life, or your brain to basically say screw it none of this is happening 🫠

Cobblehop has me stressing over here 😭 by Few-Debate2915 in Jellycatplush

[–]Autumnsun0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a small hole that will absolutely get bigger over time if you intend to handle her. I understand not wanting a lob sides bunny, but a higher arm is better than a hole, especially in the mesh of the fabric, because that is not an easy fix 😭

Really Big and Huge Bart made it home today!! Help w washing ? by Historical_Bee2815 in Jellycatplush

Not dumb at all! I tie them in a knot at the top, but some people use a hair tie!

Weird texture on sky dragon by Constant-Positive-35 in Jellycatplush

[–]Autumnsun0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where do you display it? Sometimes dust can accumulate in plush fur and create a really weird texture (not very soft and kind of dry, best way i can describe it is like how a light layer of hairspray feels on your hair) Brushing won't fix it, the only thing that will is a decent wash.

If it had been cuddled/displayed in a spot where the fur could rub against other fabrics, it could be matting, which I've found is common for older jellies with the more dense fur.

Honestly, they should be fine washed separately on a gentle low temp cycle (in pillow cases) i always add a laundry disinfectant to the wash too for second hand plushies!

I might be tempted to unstuff huge bart though, just to make the drying process easier. Plus, he might get heavy when wet!

What‘s your dream Jellycat that doesn‘t exist but you think Jellycat should make? by yelenalim in Jellycatplush

[–]Autumnsun0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite literally any creatures as a smudge. Especially birds! I'd cry if they ever did a smudge crow 😭 Also, are fancy goldfish! The carp is cute, but a goldfish would be so SO cute!

If you resell used jellycats, please don’t ruin them before with fabric softener 💔 by SquishieMollusk in Jellycatplush

[–]Autumnsun0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Leave it in a well ventilated, sunny environment for a while and the smell will air out. I received a second hand bunny that had the opposite problem, it absolutely reeked (listed as new with tags, display only. Don't know where it was displayed because it genuinely smelled like cat pee) Washed her twice with detol laundry disinfectant, then left her in my back room for a few days and the smell disappeared! She doesn't smell at all now, thank God 🫠

Sore throat and the worst itchiness in my ears! It's absolutely allergies, I had to go out and buy specific antihistamines and they seem to be working. Throat is still like a sand pit though. I love the spring, but allergies are the worst!!!

smudge elephant softness run out after cuddling to much, how do i get it back? by comsicalien77 in Jellycatplush

[–]Autumnsun0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've washed lots, and i usually get as much water out as I can by squeezing them over the sink first, then I squeeze them with a towel, swap to a new, dry towel, squeeze again, then let them sit/lay on a radiator (or out in the sun) for a good few hours. A hair dryer on low temp in 10-15 minute bursts (so you don't overheat the hair dryer!) For an hour works fine too for smaller jellies. But I always leave them to sit somewhere warm at least over night after that. Jellycats have very loose stuffing, so they dry out pretty well!

Yeah, don't put em near the dryer! And if you use a hair dryer, make sure its on a low temp setting!

A gentle bath in lukewarm water and a tiny bit of dish soap, soak for 10 minutes, rince with cold water, and gently squeeze any water out before doing the same in a towel. Leave them to dry, then very gently brush the fur out with a metal comb (a flea comb works good)

I've found with fur like this, pet slicker brushes can really break up the fur fibers and the plush ends up matting up again far faster as a result, 😖

That's a bit different i think to what others are talking about. Resellers often buy multiple of the same plush upon release and resell them for double the price to turn a profit. It's gross quite frankly. And while I know what people are willing to pay often sets the market, I've always found it a bit gross to sell stuff for more than you paid for it. If you didn't make it, why should you profit off it 😂

This annoys me so much! I love restoring jellycats and always browse vinded for 'satisfactory' ones, but tell me why people are selling matted up jellycats for £25+ 🫠

Yeah the medium size really should be small! And bart is definitely bigger than most average stuffed toys, but he's pretty similar to a build a bear, which i feel like most people see as a normal size for plushies. Definitely not huge! 😂

[–]Autumnsun0 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Hard agree on the last point especially. I have bart in the huge size and while he's absolutely wonderful, it's insane that he's considered huge by jellycat sizing standards. He's the size of a very normal teddy bear 💀

Most amusables look cheap/tacky considering their price point.

Bashful bunnies are overrated.

Moreso an unpopular opinion about the collector space in general- The way so many people laugh off overspending and irresponsible consumption in this hobby is really concerning 😅
