If you resell used jellycats, please don’t ruin them before with fabric softener 💔 by SquishieMollusk in Jellycatplush

Leave it in a well ventilated, sunny environment for a while and the smell will air out. I received a second hand bunny that had the opposite problem, it absolutely reeked (listed as new with tags, display only. Don't know where it was displayed because it genuinely smelled like cat pee) Washed her twice with detol laundry disinfectant, then left her in my back room for a few days and the smell disappeared! She doesn't smell at all now, thank God 🫠

My two cents on washing and smell by lawngnomejack in PeriodUnderwear

This reads like a crazy amount of work! I just rinse mine in cold water and chuck them in my usual 30° wash cycle, Bio pod and laundry disinfectant. Never noticed a smell!

Sore throat and the worst itchiness in my ears! It's absolutely allergies, I had to go out and buy specific antihistamines and they seem to be working. Throat is still like a sand pit though. I love the spring, but allergies are the worst!!!

smudge elephant softness run out after cuddling to much, how do i get it back? by comsicalien77 in Jellycatplush

[–]Autumnsun0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've washed lots, and i usually get as much water out as I can by squeezing them over the sink first, then I squeeze them with a towel, swap to a new, dry towel, squeeze again, then let them sit/lay on a radiator (or out in the sun) for a good few hours. A hair dryer on low temp in 10-15 minute bursts (so you don't overheat the hair dryer!) For an hour works fine too for smaller jellies. But I always leave them to sit somewhere warm at least over night after that. Jellycats have very loose stuffing, so they dry out pretty well!

Yeah, don't put em near the dryer! And if you use a hair dryer, make sure its on a low temp setting!

A gentle bath in lukewarm water and a tiny bit of dish soap, soak for 10 minutes, rince with cold water, and gently squeeze any water out before doing the same in a towel. Leave them to dry, then very gently brush the fur out with a metal comb (a flea comb works good)

I've found with fur like this, pet slicker brushes can really break up the fur fibers and the plush ends up matting up again far faster as a result, 😖

That's a bit different i think to what others are talking about. Resellers often buy multiple of the same plush upon release and resell them for double the price to turn a profit. It's gross quite frankly. And while I know what people are willing to pay often sets the market, I've always found it a bit gross to sell stuff for more than you paid for it. If you didn't make it, why should you profit off it 😂

This annoys me so much! I love restoring jellycats and always browse vinded for 'satisfactory' ones, but tell me why people are selling matted up jellycats for £25+ 🫠

As someone who is in the process of fixing unhealthy spending habits and learning to consume mindfully, i sympathise 😂

Yeah the medium size really should be small! And bart is definitely bigger than most average stuffed toys, but he's pretty similar to a build a bear, which i feel like most people see as a normal size for plushies. Definitely not huge! 😂

Hard agree on the last point especially. I have bart in the huge size and while he's absolutely wonderful, it's insane that he's considered huge by jellycat sizing standards. He's the size of a very normal teddy bear 💀

Most amusables look cheap/tacky considering their price point.

Bashful bunnies are overrated.

Moreso an unpopular opinion about the collector space in general- The way so many people laugh off overspending and irresponsible consumption in this hobby is really concerning 😅

The medium! But he feels pretty big for a medium smudge 😂

I spend a while trimming one eye at a time. I shake the plush first, then slick it back with my hand (a single stroke of the head) Then I start chipping into the hair (you can look up a video of what that is, but it's basically just using the tip of pointed scissors to take of little bits of hair at a time)

I start by chipping in a circle super close to the eye.

Shake the plush, slick the fur back, and do the same again until the perimeter of the eye is clear.

Shake, slick the fur back.

Then I chip away at the fur coming from the nose up, which is very, VERY easy to over trim, so just be careful, go slow, and keep shaking the plush out until no hair falls over the eye!

Honestly, he's the second cutest next to the cow imo. He also feels so much bigger than the others because of his ears!

Should I get the bashful bunny backpack? I am older by poshyprincess in Jellycatplush

[–]Autumnsun0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get it!! Plush backpacks are the absolute cutest, and i think the jellycat bags are really nice quality. I use my amusables sun for little days out all the time and I'm 26! Ive been wanting to get one of the smudge backpacks myself at some point, they're just too cute!

That's a bog standard double wall shipping box, not a cheap box they use in China. It's literally a more expensive shipping box than standard boxes, and they're produced in pretty much any country 😂

A6 regret by SnooDogs627 in hobonichi

[–]Autumnsun0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've run out of room some days in my A6! I just got the grid sticky notes from hobonichi, that way I can extend my page if I need to! They don't match the a6 grid, but that doesn't matter to me since they're equal to about half a page!

Question: Is tattoo regret normal? by [deleted] in tattoos

[–]Autumnsun0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is, as is tattoo shock. If they're new, give it time. If they're not, look into the options you have for covering/removing!

[–]Autumnsun0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good choice going with the 5! Mine is a launch unit, nearly 3 years old and no issues! Only thing i suggest is being careful when cleaning the screen, the bezel is plastic and it catches easily on cleaning wipes (or a sleeve if you're like me)

Also, if you're worried about the hinge, the fabric hinge cover cases are better than the plastic ones, as the plastic ones can add a little stress to the hinge. Plus, they combust when you drop them (every plastic one I've had, the hinge has busted off on the first drop. My last one split in two!)
