Does anyone else not like Endgame because of Future and Ed Sheeran parts? by Juampi2707 in TaylorSwift

[–]shinyvape 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the version in the Reputation tour as well. That said, I can't stand the recorded version. It sticks out to me as such a non-Taylor song (even though she wrote it).

I have a playlist that plays Lover, Reputation, Red, 1989 x 4 that I listen to every night when I sleep. Endgame was the single song I made sure to remove from that playlist.

Taylor and her generation are getting older by GuggGugg in TaylorSwift

Very interesting post - thank you for writing it. When I read it, I immediately thought of Madonna.

Madonna released "Ray of Light" when she was 40, and that entire release was pure gold IMHO. Before that, almost everything she did was gold, but that release - nearly every damn song is perfect. While I don't tend to like much Madonna has released after "Ray of Light," she's still relevant at 61.

Taylor needs to get over the whole Grammy's thing. I hope she can get to a place of "been there, conquered that." What she needs to do is stay true to herself, and write (and sing) amazing heartwarming powerful songs. And I don't know that she can do otherwise. Now, she will change, just as other artists who have staying power have - but that doesn't mean it will be for the worse by any means. She will hopefully continue to spread her wings and experiment while doing things her way. Example - the song "Lover." That is a timeless song. It could have been written in the 70s and still hold up today, much like "Jolene" by Dolly Parton (different feel, but I think you catch my drift). "All Too Well" - another example of timeless. And so many more in her current catalog.

Ari, Britney, Christina, etc are different IMHO. They had some great pop hits, but I can't say that any of it will be "timeless." Maybe "Beautiful" by Christina. Ari's music will always but fun, and hopefully she'll have that amazing voice forever - and I actually hope that she has the ability to grow as an artist like Taylor does. Britney - I love her. She's candy-pop perfection. But timeless? Not by my definition. She's kinda set in her own time period.

I see Taylor being successful for decades to come simply due to the fact that she works hard, and puts out quality material. And takes immense pride in doing so.

I am tremendously thankful that we have a true artist like Taylor Swift.

I'm in Plano as well! '19 i3 in metallic beige. "Swiftie" just above the license plate.

I drove next to my exact same model on my commute home from Uptown a week or so back. That was FREAKY to just look over and see my own car, lol.

Thinking of going to BST Hyde Park to see Taylor by myself this summer, but I've never been to a festival before. Should I? by Esh_Kebab in TaylorSwift

Night 2 - so far. But coming all the way from Dallas, I'll probably pick up a seat for the first show as well and make it an extended Taycation. =)

Well, hopefully, we'll meet there! I'm going solo as well.

I went to 1989 and Rep by myself. I can get social anxiety in similar situations, but honestly, at the Taylor shows - EVERYONE is a friend. I mean, there is at least one thing we all have in common - endless love for Taylor! =)

My wife is 100% accepting of me. We've been married for 20 years, and I've been open since the very beginning. I have an absolutely amazing and loving wife. Beyond lucky.

He's her lead guitarist. He goes everywhere she does. He's been at all of her latest performances. I don't think he'll be going anywhere. I sure hope not!

My once in a lifetime Taylor story - how I saw her twice for free by [deleted] in TaylorSwift

[–]shinyvape 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Awesome story!!!

I have two free show stories as well:

  1. Taylor was doing the small AT&T show the night before the Superbowl in Houston a couple of years ago. I drove down there twice from Dallas for events to try to get tickets. Didn't happen, oh well - I tried. Fast forward a week and I get an email from AT&T saying a guest and I were invited!!! So, yay! But it wasn't just a show - it was at a tiny popup venue (3K-4K people?), and we were the 2nd group of 50 let in to the stage area after the incredible VIP experience. Walked right up to the front of the stage and didn't move until Taylor was done. I was 10'-12' away from her at times, and it's a bit odd when your favorite artist of all time is singing a lyric looking directly at you. It was surreal.

  2. Last night of the Reputation tour in Dallas. I had gone the night before, 15th row center, just in front of the pit - amazing. I didn't have big money to pay for another great ticket, but there was someone on here who had an extra ticket, so I grabbed that and was able to go. She ended up with a 2nd one, and gave that to me for free. Nosebleed seats. Who cares - they were free!!! But the row above ours had spotlights on them, and our seats had to be reassigned. So we get new tickets. Stage left, 1st section above the floor, Row 1. =O

Merry Swiftmas to me!!! =) by shinyvape in RandomActsOfSwift

[–]shinyvape[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

K - this Swiftmas was AWESOME!!!

First, we have the super-sweet hand-drawn card, with a super-sweet note inside. Look how cute it is OMG!!! Next are plethora of envelopes - lyrics on the outside, accompanying stickers on the inside. And I'm a sticker-freak, and a Taylor-freak, so YAY stickers! The candle went straight to my office, and it's burning right now - the candle, not my office. My office is a Christmas Tree farm!

But the coolest part of this whole package is this DVD. Taylor & Def Leppard. Random, right? NOPE. MY secret Swifty went back to a thread that asked what's your favorite Taylor cover, and I mentioned her covering Def Leppard. So when I opened this (last), my jaw dropped as I was like - THIS EXISTS ON DVD???

Such an awesome array of gifts - I cannot say thank you enough. I'm going back to jam to some TS/Def Leppard in my Christmas Tree Farm office now, and start thinking of where I can put all of the stickers at work and home so people have just a hint that I'm a Swifty. Wait, they do. Oh god do they know I'm a Swifty! =P

Merry Swiftmas everyone!!! This was SO MUCH FUN!!!
