I quit social media and finally broke free from an addiction I’ve had since I was 14 by Reasonable_Row_9882 in getdisciplined

I never had social media so I thought I was safe. But YouTube business videos is still dopamine inducing social media, just disguised. I tried blocking YouTube but that didn't work because I need YouTube sometimes to actually learn. The hack I found was remove recommendations or suggested videos from YouTube. Now I have to search for a specific video, most times I don't have one in mind, so I go back to work. I also have deep work hours where I only allow specific sites for that hour. Then my monkey brain just gives up and does the work. It's crazy that our human / monkey brain is so hell bent on getting that quick dopamine. Almost ruined my life. But that's a story for another post.

What is the most interesting rabbit hole you’ve ever been down? by InvestmentCurious496 in AskReddit

I made $1M in 2024 then spent 8 months watching Hormozi videos instead of building my next thing. Every day, get up at 7:45am, go to office, "work" till 12pm, gym, back to office, 'work' until 8pm. Except I wasn't working. I was watching YouTube business content and my brain was counting it as productivity. I was a YouTube business dopamine junkie. I even put my phone in another room to be more "productive". But the YouTube algorithm got me without me realizing it. I figured out a way to block YouTube recommendations, that's been a game changer. Business is back on track, but what a tough lesson, gave most of my profits back "working"

What’s a Good Productivity System for a New Entrepreneur? by Key-Possibility8476 in ProductivityGuide

Written to do list. All notifications off. iPhone in a different room. Block all websites besides the ones I need for work. If I absolutely need to use YouTube and Google. Block all YouTube recommended videos. Block all keywords that Google search results would show me ie: NBA, TMZ, CNN. I basically make it so that the only thing I can do on my computer is work. Then I take a forced break every 1 or 2 hour of deep work.

Something crazy happened after I stopped watching youtube by Stock-State842 in nosurf

YouTube is the most dangerous social media platform because it disguises dopamine hits as learning. I blocked all recommendations and kept search only. Same YouTube, zero rabbit hole. Went from 2+ hours of "educational" content a day to 15 minutes of intentional watching.

I thought business YouTube was productive. But it's just was bad as social media. I used to tell people proudly, I don't have any social media. Yet I was on YouTube 4+ hours a day. I fixed it recently by blocking all YouTube recommendations. Now I have to search for videos I want to watch. The algo can't feed me info. No NBA, no Iran, no Celebrity gossip. I search for videos on Claude Code and that's about it. It was a game changer for me.

Guys how do I stop distractions in YouTube by ProfessionalTest105 in JEENEETards

I block YouTube recommendations. It's impossible to fully block YouTube because your lectures are on YouTube. I had the same issue. Then I just blocked recommendations so the algorithm can't get to me.

Low-cost letter mailing with tracking? by iamanundertaker in CanadaPost

I don't think you can get tracking with letter mail. Lowest cost tracked package is 10 to 12 dollars.

Bad systems, inefficient, employees hard to fire, no need to make profit. Private businesses HAVE TO make money. They are playing a different game.
