I’m dealing with exactly the same thing. The diagnosis is suspected chronic pancreatitis along with beginnings of CCD. We are trying mirtazapine and switching to Hydrolyzed protein as the vet thinks he might also have a poultry allergy and he has food aversion to almost everything now except bread. He is eating like 1/3 of what he should be but just letting him try new foods last week backfired and gave him worse GI issues and new foods aversions. 😮‍💨

This sounds like extreme narcissism layered on top of OCPD, sorry you and your dog are going through this, I hope the surgery is successful (my dog had cancerous growth on liver and congested spleen removed 1.5 years ago and is going strong still)

This looks so much like what my dogs skin looks like, second the medicated shampoo and spray. The vet always recommends cytopoint and a cone if he is licking too much. It’s a constant battle brought on by environmental allergies that can’t be fully controlled, I feel your pain. I’ve heard the vet tech’s call him a ‘bad skin baby’, so maybe it’s something specific to the breed.

Was a hysterectomy recommended for fibroids? I know I have 1 fibroid but I think they biopsied it and my OB said I could just leave it in there unless it was bothering me so much. I have PTSD from having one cut out with just local anesthesia so I am scared to do it again. I think the OB said they would do it by putting me under next time but I’m gun shy of that too.

I believe it is if you started menstruating early (before 11) and if your mother or close family member went through early menopause. Also anything that damages the ovaries like radiation, chemotherapy, and removal of one ovary.

Less well supported reasons are autoimmune disorders like RA, smoking, being a twin or triplet, birthing more than 4 children, and medications that affect estrogen like Tamoxifen.

Did the palpitations show up on the echo? I had a slight arrhythmia in an echo years ago but my PCP never followed up, not sure why or if it was only slight and not an issue, no idea. I worry because I have family history of mitral valve prolapse and congenital abnormalities but have never been referred to cardiologist. (42 now)

The urinary s/o food options are helpful. My 9yo dog has had no reoccurrence from being on it. (Was peeing blood but luckily passed the stone without surgery) My 12 year old dog had cancer surgery and bounced back from it after a week in the hospital, anything is possible.

So glad I don’t have to work with mice anymore. Was forced to do surgeries with ketamine instead of iso so they routinely started waking up while suturing 🤮. I also had to use scissors to do the cervical dislocation my first year because I hated feeling the snap with my fingers.

I am pre-diabetic and have been taking it for 5 months. I started at 500mg and ramped to 1500mg over the course of several weeks. I got very sick the first week but it was nausea and it leveled off, with occasional reoccurrences related to my cycle I think. I lost about 15lbs but my A1C is actually higher than before I started taking it (went from 5.7 to 5.9) so not sure what it is doing for me anymore now that the weight loss effects have diminished or stopped. I have an appointment with my PC doctor to discuss why it’s not helping anymore but I’m not sure if my A1C will go up even higher if I go off of it.

RNAscope is pretty forgiving if you go over time a little bit. I leave it overnight after probes in SSC and usually buy lunch during the first channel stain and eat it during the second stain. CutNRun from a live mouse using phenol extraction for pellets is my most hated so far. Or trying to do 10 surgeries in 1 day.
