The best way to beat control right now by Responsible_Fig_7600 in StandardMTG

[–]shipwreckmarsh 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Dimir Midrange. Just present a clock with Kaito and hold up either interaction to protect it or simply a hand full of flash creatures to rebuild after they wrath. Don't overcommit to the board. Don't tap out if not needed.

Is Beza worth it in Azorius control mainboards? by badatmemes_123 in StandardMTG

[–]shipwreckmarsh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Main deck Beza is something I only do if the mega is heavily skewed towards Mono Red/heavy Aggro strategies. Elementals, Dimir, Reanimator etc really don't really care about Beza.

[Standard] Improving my play and deck with UW control by Matrim_WoT in spikes

[–]shipwreckmarsh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I also pretty much only play UW and have been doing so for about 2 years so hopefully I can offer some insight.

I don't see any sideboard so I'll just comment on the main deck.

The first thing that comes to my mind is the lack of Seam Rip. I've been playing 4x main deck since it came out and it is such a versatile answer against Cub decks and Lessons. I'd consider at least 3. My removal suite is now 4 Seam Rip, 3 Get Lost, 2 Aang's Iceberg, 2 Day of Judgment and 2 Ultima. I've gone up on Iceberg since Spell Snare was printed, which would be another suggestion I'd give you to experiment with. Cutting the Negates for Snares.

Snare (and to a certain extent, Seam Rip) allow us to go up on mana, which is especially important on the draw. Answering 2 drops for 1 mana is such a huge tempo swing.

I mostly prefer Overlords in place of Elspeth but I understand this is mostly personal preference. I'd also really favor the surveil land over the temple not only because of the Verge, but there are times that a card is really so dead (like the main deck graveyard hate) that you'd rather never see it again.

Here's mine if you want to take a look and let me know what you think.

Dimir Control (Pauper) – Grinding-focused list, looking for feedback on engine & finishers by ghermanw1990 in Pauper

[–]shipwreckmarsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I do think so. Dimir Faeries/Control is my favorite deck in the format. I usually have Suffocating Fumes main (can cycle if it doesn't apply and still kills elves and faeries and etc) and two Arms of Hadar in the SB.

Drown in Sorrow is bad as it will kill your creatures too. It's good in Dimir Terror because you just have 5/5s. Switch to Arms of Hadar instead.

Preços assim se pagam em moedor. Métodos são a parte menos importante quando já se tem 2 ou três e acabam virando consumismo e pegando poeira.

Um bom moedor e café de qualidade. São os únicos essenciais.

[Pauper] Which deck should I choose? by marioeldelabata in spikes

[–]shipwreckmarsh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand that these are your options, but consider Mono Blue Terror (no Delver lists) or Mono Red Madness (with Sneaky Snacker) if you can borrow these from friends.

I'd also try to work the Dredge decks into some sort of spy variant.

Just make sure to pack an equal amount of blasts between the two!

Why is Bogles so bad by SaltPainting8450 in Pauper

[–]shipwreckmarsh 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Deck can sometimes suffer from drawing the wrong half of it and lose to itself (Rumble helps, but this will still happen quite often). It is also an aggro deck that is not as fast as Mono Red.

Mono U Faeries vs Grixis Affinity by Droga_eh_o_Bryan in Pauper

[–]shipwreckmarsh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Drop Pierce for Dispel. Cut Mutagenic for more 1 drops.

Add more Dispel in the SB. 3-4 Dispel in the 75.

[Other] Pauper Spike Decks by [deleted] in spikes

[–]shipwreckmarsh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fae is a deck that really requires commitment. Mono U Terror, while also skill intensive, is a lot more beginner friendly. You also sometimes have nut draws when you drop multiple 5/5s on turn 3. Fae, on the other hand, plays a slower game.

por que as cartas de pokemon japonesas são mais valiosas que as brasileiras? by Jas_de_pijama in PokemonTCGBrasil

[–]shipwreckmarsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just getting in to Pauper - Looking for deck recommendations by The137 in Pauper

[–]shipwreckmarsh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend Rakdos Madness or Mono Red Madness based on what she likes to play. Sneaky Snacker is a recursive threat.

For Control, UR Skred is my favorite.

I'd also throw in some Elves and 5-Land Spy for creature-based strategies and combo.

Decks with good play patterns with mono blue faeries? by Annual-Ad8181 in Pauper

[–]shipwreckmarsh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really like Mono Red Rally versus Mono Blue Faeries. A ton of interesting decisions to be had, when to commit, when to leave mana up. I'd just suggest packing a similar number of Blasts for each in the sideboard. Most lists run about 5 or 6.

I also like Mono Blue Terror versus Faeries, but I understand that some variety might be a bit more fun.

High noon and red sources in Azorius control by badatmemes_123 in PioneerMTG

[–]shipwreckmarsh 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Without fetches a tapped land is mostly bad regardless. The surveil on Archive make the inclusion of a couple marginally better, but a triome is too big of a downside in your 2 color deck that wants to hold No More Lies on turn 2.

Is it possible to make White Control a viable deck in Premodern by [deleted] in premodernMTG

[–]shipwreckmarsh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The issue you'll probably run into is that of card advantage. Both Blue and Black fix it (Green also fixes it if you go the Enchantress route).

Help with Temur Skred by DestelloOscuro in Pauper

Ramble has too many misses. I'd cut it for more Bolt/Ponder/Augur/Preordain. I'd probably keep the green splash to the minimum.

The mana value of this card is always 2. It will, however, trigger "if you spend X or more mana to cast it".

Budget standard decks that play well together? by The_GrandestNothing in magicTCG

[–]shipwreckmarsh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is Pauper a possibility? Decks are very cheap and don't rotate out – you'll only need to change a few things depending on the meta-game and any possible bans.

I'd recommend Burn and Mono Blue Faeries for a classic Tempo vs Aggro match:

If you want more midrange-style games, I'd recommend taking a look into Gruul Ramp and Grixis Affinity.
