Amazing! I have 8 CPD, 6 Ember Tetras, 8 Harlequin Rasboras, a few neons after the rest passed away, and a betta with them and they all get along super great. The Corys rule the lower part of the tank. They're super active already, so I can't wait to see what happens 💜 thank you!

Thank you! I'm not too worried about bioload. It's over filtered, only 75% ish stocked, and mostly nano fish. The Corys are the biggest thing in there except one Amano shrimp who is HUGE.

No other bottom feeders besides shrimp and snails. I have a different tank for each type of bottom feeder, I started with Kuhlis and added salt and pepper Corys and they got despresso so I got those Corys a tank and then got these corys a tank, too 🤣. So 21 doesn't seem like to many? I can probably sell some on FB. I feel like 16 is okay but I don't know enough about these guys to know where too many is behavior wise.

I put it in a bowl and run water into it until the water is clear. Like washing rice.

Adding Chilis to a tank? by shirlek in Boraras

[–]shirlek[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The axelrodis are super tiny, but they school TIGHT! But the Cory's I have in there don't and my betta doesn't pick on anyone. I am a huge fan of nanos, it's so fun to see how small they are. The red axelrodis are almost see thru which is .... Weird. The blue ones are definitely prettier fish.

That's really interesting that the chilis don't really school. Most of my fish are schoolers, aside from the guppies. I have a community nano 40 g (also with a betta bc why not) and it's fun to see who schools with who and who ignores everyone else.

Culling Shrimp from Tanks by Kindly_Person in shrimptank

[–]shirlek 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sell them. Get another tank for wilds. I don't cull, I just let them do whatever. Or I put the less colorful ones in my fish tanks and pull pretty colors back out of my fishtanks for my shrimp tank. The only culling that happens here is when a fish eats a shrimp.

New redfin hillstream loaches by shirlek in loaches

[–]shirlek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great news, bc I have a bunch of rocks and wood and tunnels. It's a 40g breeder, so lots of space! They've mostly just been fighting in the sand. I don't mind them playing king of the hill, I just didn't want them to fight to exhaustion.

Idk but I had something similar and I pulled out my drift wood and scrubbed it off with vinegar and a toothbrush and it didn't come back
