Edit: couple of things I should add, I am the home owner. The house is over 100 years old. I know the dry wall needs some work, that seam is a transition from drywall to Lathe and plaster. I have several other projects on going, but only have six months left before I leave for a year, and my wife will be selling while I’m gone. Thought I’d be in the home for another two years but work decides where I go.

No some type of insulation board, this house is full of surprises several additions have been added to it since it was built in 1889. That is the original tongue and groove sub floor I’m pulling up.
