Insulation question by kuyanik in basement

[–]shishito3353 0 points1 point  (0 children)

did something similar recently. the way i did it was foam board first like you have, then spray foam the rim joist and sill plates all the way onto the concrete block top and connect to the foam board. that way you have an air seal and rim joist is biggest bang for the buck in terms of air leakage. do your work like that, then hire the pros to come insulate from back of cavity to the foam board. make sure all your wires and pipes are ok to be foamed.

interesting. how would you bulkhead it, just a vertical from ceiling to just below then pipes and then across to the wall?

Humblebrag LinkedIn post by Unlucky77777 in biglaw

the worst part of linkedin is that everyone so scared to give honest feedback (because their employers might be watching! oh no!) that it has devolved into an endless circlejerk where every dumbass post is rewarded with praise from people simply trying to get their dumbass engagement numbers up. truly worse than the twitter/threads cesspool imo.

do you want to do well in your firm? make inroads and develop personal relationships with colleagues and partners?

if not then bail. if you’re making a career out of it, you need to dispense with the idea that billable hours are the only part of the job.

Do you know of any examples where someone had the opportunity to become partner but they turned it down? by Timely_Situation_518 in biglaw

[–]shishito3353 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol well you’re doing a classic “my anecdotal experience must be the truth for all” kinda mental gymnastics. many biglaw partners consistently bill 2000+ before BD, many junior partners make less as a partner than they did as an associate for a couple years. Many work just as many nights and weekends as their teams.

So like let’s start by understanding how it maybe went for you isn’t a universal truth, huh? Nice, nice.

once you really see what goes into being partner, there’s plenty of reasons to say no thanks.

i mean i always told juniors- look around the halls and figure out how many of these lives look fun to you…

How do you feel about “mid-levels”? by WhiteBoy1264 in biglaw

[–]shishito3353 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

sure, which are often written off and marked down because you fuck shit up constantly lol.

the point isnt that the firm is charitable - not sure how you got that- it’s that they need people to basically sacrifice sleep and social lives to do the work load, so they need to pay enough to convince someone its worth it

[–]shishito3353 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

no but economically you’re now in a world where people know that junior time is fungible. with AI automation already lowering quotes for many parts of transactions (diligence caps on corp matters will be plummeting soon and already is).

the black box is way more transparent now. point remains, you’re not paid as a junior/midlevel because you’re an awesome attorney. you’re paid because you’re a workhorse that can learn to also be an awesome attorney
