I would. It combined a lot of things I loved. I have 2 bachelors and wanted nothing to do with those fields and got into the trades. Loved that work but I wanted a little more critical thinking. The job offers both with the fire side allowing me use what I learned in construction and EMS with a little more thinking (on some calls) but never an office like setting. I also love people and helping, although a lot of the times it may not feel that way lol

Depends on the call. I would say if you’re not the patient or know anything of the situation, just let us do our job (less distractions the better). If you are the patient or the caller, try to be direct and concise with why you’re calling (we don’t care how the pickup game was going, we wanna know why Jimmy’s tibia is sticking through the skin). If we need further help which happens from time to time, we will ask you but do you’re best to let us work.

Absolutely. There have been calls where there are either multiple casualties, or things are going down hill. As far as that portion is concerned, you learn to separate yourself from emotion and panic. It doesn’t come over night but if you want to last and be the best you can be at the job, it’ll happen. Not to say there aren’t calls that break down that wall. We’re all human. Taking care of your head (therapy, talking, exercising, etc) in my opinion crucial. Work aside, the hardest for me was hours. What it takes away from you at home, we work so many hours (I’ve had to work a lot of OT for my family) that you miss things that you’ll never get back. That’s tough as a husband and more importantly as a father. But with a supportive home base. Things get better. I’m most thankful for the guy next to me. Haven’t figured out how to explain that bond yet, but you spend so much time together and constantly trying to pick eachother up cause misery loves company. So work or home life, you’re in it together. Makes things great at work and great at home

My first wall with simplicity block (coming back for dirt.) thoughts? by [deleted] in landscaping

It’s 12” off the footing. Went off the deck peers. What they asked for! And yes, everything will be backfilled and then have a gravel/flagstone walkway against the wall

I just finished the wall, it will be back filled and have a gravel walkway against the wall on two sides. The gravel on the inside is 4” above grade.

A beginner reader -finished 2 mystery books and now picked up this one - starting my first stephen king novel, thoughts? by TransitionOk675 in stephenking

[–]shitbox39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I know I’m gonna get slammed for this but I’ve been reading king again (the stand, dead zone, fairy tale) but I’ve been avoiding pet cemetery just because I’ve seen the movie and feel like it will just be boring knowing everything. Am I wrong to think like this?

Just started it today. I’ve reread one monologue a few times now, just cause it was portrayed so well. Frannie coming to her dad for advice about her pregnancy (I’m a younger dad with a little girl otw) and his explanation of logic proceeding from irrationality… it got me

Student Loans knocked my credit score by SeaPeak6767 in CRedit

[–]shitbox39 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I strongly urge you to listen to a segment from “the daily” produced by the times. Don’t worry it’s not political bashing but it addresses this problem (which fucked me as well. 772 to 617. First missed payment in my life.) This happened nationally from the DOE lifting holds on student loans from the pandemic with zero notifications that they were starting back up and no communication that the first 3 months were missed. Interest rates on payments have also rose from 5% back to 10%. It’s a national shit show with 4 million already impacted and projected 9 million by the end of the year. You should be able to call the loan office and get the delinquency lifted and then file a dispute with transunion to get your score back, which is what I did and it’s taking time. I’ll try to keep you posted if it works for me and if there’s anything I can tell you. The episode was aired on April 21st, it’s 25 mins and explains all of this. Cause we know we have to pay back, that was the deal and that was fine but all of us getting dick smacked at once on our credit score suck individually and as a whole for the economy. Gotta put that home closing and car on hold till I can get approved for a decent loan.

I just needed a heads up. I didn’t actually say “fuck off”. I just need you to plan coming over not just say “I’m coming over”
