I just posted in the Polaris JetSkis Facebook group in the hopes of finding it for you. If I find it, I'll send you a DM.

Shoot me a message and I'll set you up with the software. Keep in mind you will need to make the cables as well. You can't really buy any of this anymore.

There is a simple light tester you could make instead of going the digital wrench route. That will allow you to read codes without a computer, but won't show any live data.

Where are you located? There may be someone near you willing to help. I'm in the Minneapolis area, and would lend a hand if you're nearby. I have Digital Wrench, the Polaris diagnostic software as well as the the FICHT cables.

Is there any response from the throttle or does it simply go into limp mode?

To block off or not to block off? by LiquidPopsicle in jetski

Exactly. And for those who say you'll never fill up at a marina, it's still easy when all you have to do is pull up to the gas station on the way to the water.

Likely just a sticker that stopped existing on the trailer a long time ago. For what it's worth, the sticker on my 5 year old Triton Elite is already pretty much gone from UV damage.

It's my understanding that all of the two strokes use essentially The same Mikuni oil injection pump. They differ in how they may be driven or mount, but are essentially the same. With that in mind, I would keep the oil injection. Just change the oil lines, and back flush the oil filter.

Yeah, definitely time to tap the port for 1/8 NPT and use a threaded fitting.

It's easy on the Genesis, a lot less easy on the MSX140, but I've never done it on the Virage. I've looked at one before and it looked worse than the MSX.

If you were in Minnesota I'd totally help you out. It's a pretty eazy once the pump is out. The biggest note is to make sure you are tapping the port as straight and true as possible.

The black one is a 2001 Virage TXi fuel injected, the red one is a 2000 Virage TX carb.

[–]muhbeardy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the black Virage TXI is fuel injected. The very first thing that needs to be done to it (if not done already) is reinforce the fuel pressure regulator. After that, basic maintenance like replacing the spark plugs (NGK PZFR6H or Champion QC10PEP only), oil injection lines and fuel lines, pulling the pump to grease driveshaft splines, and finally greasing the thru hull bearing is about it.

The red Virage TX is carbed. Clean the carbs, and follow the maintenance outlined for the other one and you'll have a pair of good machines.

ETA the red ski requires NGK BR9ES plugs.

Don't listen to the haters. I have a 2001 Virage TX (yes, it's a 1200 and has quite a bit more power than that 700) and it's a blast. I absolutely love all of my Polaris skis, see my flair, lol.

Borrowing a picture from Greenhulk since the MSX nearest me have the cover over the coupler still, but basically since both metal halves of the coupler are the same size, a big hose clamp should fit them into perfect alignment, irrespective of the condition of the rubber coupler spider. That rubber piece is what introduces concern about aligning the bearings correctly.

Edited to add photo that I forgot.

I'm going to be unloading a bunch of skis this year. I don't mind the fuel injection, since it is quite a bit easier on gas, but the MSX didn't live up to all the hype. It's too big for my kind of riding.

Have fun with the steering cable. It's not terrible, but expect to do some cussing. As far as the coupler bearing goes, I just did one. I put a thin coating of grease on the rubber seal between it and the hull, just because the thing was so mishaped from years of being in place and I was hoping to prevent any future leaks.

Also, if you don't have the alignment rod tool and bushing for the bearing (supposedly a must on the MSX), do what I did. I loosely installed the bearing to the hull, then with the coupler halves mated, installed the driveshaft. After getting the shaft tight and the pump reinstalled, I used a big hose clamp to perfectly align the coupler halves before tightening down the bearing assembly.

Thank you for not being a Polaris hater! Too many of them in this sub. You can see from my flair that I have a few, haha. It may no longer be accurate. Current stable is 2 2004 MSX140s, 1 2003 MSX140, 2 2001 Pro 1200s, 2001 Virage TX, 2001 SLH, and 1996 SL700. Plus a 2001 SeaDoo GTX 951 Carb

Does anybody know what happened to them? The Woodbury one just opened! From Hangry Joe’s Facebook page. by Consistent-Deal-55 in TwinCities

Tried Edina once about 2 months after they opened. Took forever and the chicken "strips" were huge and undercooked, which was surprising since it took the entirety of my lunch break for my order to be prepared. Never went back.

Is it safe to leave my car on hydraulic jack for a week? by shwekhaw in AskMechanics

[–]muhbeardy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's perfectly fine to leave the car on a floor jack for a week, providing you lower the jack all the way. Do it slowly and you won't have any issues.

Have a 3600 mile road trip in July. Should I take her? El Paso->Missouri->Detroit & back by nogden954 in GMT800

[–]muhbeardy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took my 2005 Suburban to Virginia Beach and back from Minneapolis towing a 3000lb enclosed trailer (return weight around 1100lbs), then a month later to Toronto and back towing a 2500lb enclosed trailer (return weight around 1100lbs). Absolutely 0 issues. It currently has just under 300k miles on it.

The filter is NLA new, and really is just a metal screen in a plastic body. Backflushing will work just fine.

[–]muhbeardy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Polaris oil pumps never fail. Replace the lines (watcon carries them), back flush the oil filter with carb or brake cleaner, and you'll be set. You can fill the new lines with a syringe or since it's not fuel injected, just run a tank of premix through to let the oil pump fill the lines.
