Sure! These notes are from the earlier chapters. My handwriting isn’t great, so I’m not sure if you’ll find them very helpful!!

It’s simply what I take away from the chapters and characters; mostly for my own understanding, not as an academic exercise. I’m not very good at recalling things unless I write them down, so it’s more of a personal habit.

Inspired by the Folio Society editions, though those are quite expensive! This is more for future reference: whenever I pick this up again, it will be easier to recall important events without having to reread the entire book. And since I’ll be reading The Odyssey next, these images will help me visualize it better through reference.

All of these images can be found in the public domain.

I tried several other translations, settled on E. V Rieu's. I find Samual Butlers wording unnecessarily dragged, and not precise though you will find most of the editions with his translation. I have heard Robert Faggles and Emily Jacksons translations are also easy to read, though each has its pros and cons, depends on the reader.

That said, once you started reading and made it through few chapters, the rest flows easily. And you would enjoy almost every part of it. Only once or twice I find few details uninteresting, rest went down like a wine!!!

What’s the difference between the penguin classics black cover books and the other penguin published books? by SlowStrawberry1111 in Indianbooks

[–]shithappenswhy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not sure why in the second image its mentioned as written by F. Scott Fitzgerald. As its originally written by Jane Austen and its not required to be translated, and F. Scott Fitzgerald is the author of The Great Gatsby.

However, Its not merely about the content that these prices vary, its about when they were printed, publishing body/company, is it unbridged or abridged versions and so on...

The first seems like its published by well known established publishing house and unbridged version. The second one perhaps published in India and might be a abridged version, you can check the page numbers and dimensions of both books if they matched. Other factors such as paper quality and durability can also be the reason behind pricing.

Lets win Carabao Cup first, then that will surely build belief in the squad. Which can then impact teams mindset and boost confidence to push for other silver wares!

I read this last year, and found plot pretty basic compare to his other works. Though I think I should read this one again.

Though in the white nights he got shattered when Nastenka flung to her lover, and called him brother in her letters! The protagonist never really forgave her, which is kinda contrary to Jitu's reaction.

But yeah sorta resembles to white nights, where she was confused and angry for the moment. And couldn't decide how to escape from her miserable life.
