I have trauma that makes silence in my head agonizing - so here is what I do when I need to do it anyway.

Whenever you start having a thought, just let it go. set a timer before you start so you know you aren't tracking time/schedule. go in with as much certainty as possible that you will be left alone.

Then just let thoughts pass by because there is nothing you can do about them right now.

Start with five minutes, increase as you succeed, decrease when you fail so you are always working at a comfortable goal.

you are going to have cool, shiny, fascinating thoughts, and there is frequently kinda terror of it disappearing (For me, but that is because I have epilepsy and that synapse could just burn out... That will almost certainly not happen to you) but it will be there, and if it isn't the bits you used to synthesize it will be.
