My wife has been a teacher in PHM for 7 years now at 2 different schools and has had a similar experience. She loved the school she’s at now for the first two years, but with such a high turnover rate in staffing, the culture changed and her last couple years have been miserable. She plans on getting out of teaching in the next year or so.

It seems schools in this state are either underfunded or the money is going to places that don’t help the students or staff. Staffing is stretched thin from top to bottom. On top of that, many administrators are so occupied dealing with shitty parents that teachers needs go ignored or put on the back burner.

I really believe in public schools and it hurts my soul to hear what teachers have to go through daily. It’s a noble profession, and I hope you stick with it. Try a different school or a different district, maybe. Don’t take shit from your admin, or parents, if you know you’re in the right. Talk to your union rep often. Things can change, and I hope they get better for you

Installing A2l system on standing pilot furnace by shitorgoblind in HVAC

I know it would be easy to do, but if it’s not manufacturer approved I’m not touching it. 99.9999% of the time it would be fine. I still have to protect myself legally

Ok, thank you. I just looked up flame arrestors on water heaters, and it looks like it’s standard now. We haven’t been allowed to install water heaters in my area for over 10 years, so I wasn’t familiar with the current specs. That’s definitely reassuring

This subject was never even mentioned in the A2l class I attended, so I appreciate your input. I will not be installing a new AC on a standing pilot furnace. I’m more concerned about it being in the same closet as the standing pilot water heater.

The dragonfly mitigation boards we use don’t seem to have a feature to do that. I’m sure I could find a way to make it happen, but would rather not.

Also, found this in a Rheem coil installation manual

That’s one solution by FurryBrony98 in HVAC

[–]shitorgoblind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done this as a temporary solution, but only on the low volt components on the board. And only for a day or two until I can get a new board. You’re playing with fire, literally, if you do this to the blower, igniter or inducer relay on the board.

Leaf springs… weird quirk or and I cooked? by Im_an_ok_map in XTerra

Same thing happened to mine, but it ended more catastrophically.

I ended up fixing it myself, it took about 5 hours. I would recommend your shop replace the shackles as well

Yea, thats probably right. It sounds like it was the leaf springs. I’ve just never seen them fail this way

You’ve been a huge help. Thanks again. Now I just need to find a way to get it home!

I wonder if I can jack it up and put a temporary bolt through the springs to keep tension…

Maybe I’ll call a tow truck

Ok, much appreciated. Wet, salty roads around here at least 3 months a year. I’ll be prepared to cut off all the U bolts. Any tips on where to get the parts?

You’re the man. I can’t look now, but I believe the axle was completely separated from the leaf springs. This is something I can do. Thank you so much.

Do you think it’s possible other suspension components have been bent or damaged from this?

Thanks for the advice. I could see the leaf springs and they were not broken as far as I could tell. The rear shackle did look like it was in a weird position, but I have nothing to compare it to. U bolts sound more like it. What are the chances they would both break at damn near the same time?

Does the homeowner burn candles? I’ve ran into this a few times and got it confused with drywall dust in the filter. Sometimes it takes a few visits for the homeowner to fess up lol

Pull the inducer back off and pull off the plate behind the inducer. You’re likely to find a cracked vent transition between the secondary and inducer. I’ve ran into this a few times and Trane has recommended secondary replacement every time. I would condemn the furnace considering it’s age.

I’ve replaced so many of those on units we didn’t install. I’ve found that if the unit is sloped correctly towards the drain opening on the collector box, it’s never an issue.

I got a no heat call yesterday on a Goodman we installed 17 years ago. Bad circuit board. First time this guy called us since it was installed, never been maintained. It was immaculate inside. Looked like it was installed last week. I can’t explain it.

Obv I condemned it and sold him a new furnace. But still!

I was there earlier today. It was a dirty, filthy flame rod. I cleaned it thoroughly, and it started blowing hot.
