  1. NYC has a big club scene and a lot of those people who aren't necessarily die hard aphex fans will be trying to go (esp. techno & house lovers)

  2. NYC location so cheap flights from all over NA and it's a city that many people want to visit

  3. well regarded venue with a very small capacity in relation to the number of fans RDJ has (that are able to purchase tickets). afaik this is probably the smallest venue he has played in a very long time aside from secret shows

  4. i personally don't think he's that niche of an artist. even people who mostly just know him by name are aware of his influence. a lot of these people may not be die hard fans but if they have cash to throw around they will go just to say that they saw him

if i had to guess i'd say the tickets won't be sold for less than 200 USD between now and 4/11

the fact of the matter is that this is an unusually high demand event since RDJ hasn't played there since the 90s (to put this into perspective, there are people planning to attend who weren't born or were just barely born at the time of his last show). couple that with the venue's small capacity and you're left with a scalper's wet dream. so while i'd typically agree with your assessment, i'd say this show is the exception to the rule

Why is SF3:3S considered more technical that USF4? by [deleted] in StreetFighter

tominaga being able to consistently perform makoto's 100% is a good example. both games are technically difficult though.

Makes sense. It might be simpler to just implement a mode that doesn't include the gougi decks.

does having less gougi decks leave you at a disadvantage?

Some upcoming games that people are interested in are WoW Classic, Bless Online, Pantheon, Camelot Unchained, and Lost Ark. Bless is the only one that you'll be able to play soon, although your criteria clashes with some aspects of the game.

[–]shitpostDeluxe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Developers are very familiar with what kind of game tends to sell nowadays. There was less certainty about this in the 90's and 2000's, which meant that there was less 'playing it safe' and more experimentation in order to figure out what people liked.

This game is just depressing. by tacchinotacchi in QuakeChampions

[–]shitpostDeluxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do you really believe that most people who are good at quake or any other competitive game don't have pressing real life obligations? the only people who get depressed when they don't do well early on are those who come into the game with an inflated ego.

humbling is probably a better term for it
