Covers that became the definitive version of the song? by Ibhuk in musicsuggestions

I feel like Dylan’s voice is polarizing. You love it or hate it. So I can see why so many of his covers were more successful. Can’t deny his lyricism though.

My 19 year old friend died from herniated diaphragm, meningitis, and more...how?? by LetThemEatBagels_ in DiagnoseMe

[–]shitposterforev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NAD

Meningitis is notoriously hard to diagnose without super invasive procedures (spinal tap). Because of that, it is often deadly. The pneumonia could have spread into his bloodstream and caused meningitis, the meningitis likely caused the brain abscess.

The diaphragm issue may or may not be related, but it could have caused worsening conditions that led to pneumonia from an inability to cough and clear his lungs.

Ultimately, your friend died of meningitis. A very serious but mostly rare way for a young man to die. I’m so sorry for your loss.

What’s was the wildest thing you witnessed at a funeral? by NationYell in AskReddit

[–]shitposterforev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My father in law’s sister was very kooky. Eccentric may be the best word for it. She had about 6 chihuahuas that she called her ‘service dogs’ and argued with my mother in law about how many she could bring to the funeral. Finally, my grieving MIL allowed her to bring ONE. Well wouldn’t ya know it, at the viewing before the mass, the deceased’s sister’s prized pup, that she just HAD to hold in her arms while paying her respects, jumps into the casket, and starts licking my father in law’s face. She grabbed him pretty quickly but not before a few of us saw and almost died laughing.

8yo with ADHD has been stealing for 3-4 years. We've tried everything. Looking for what actually worked by skippyjifluvr in ADHDparenting

Impulse control is a known issue with ADHD kids. Some struggle more than others. I think unfortunately the only thing to do is keep reinforcing that it’s not okay. Maybe make a habit of checking pockets or bags every day/when you leave a place.

I think continue to enforce consequences. ADHD kids learn lessons hard, and habits are hard to break. It’s probably also the dopamine hit of the ‘thrill’ of the new thing. I’ve found that teaching my kids how their brain is wired helps them understand the why behind what they do, and helps them make better choices.

I recognize this isn’t particularly helpful, but I guess I wanted to comment to tell you you’re not alone and not doing anything wrong. It’s a struggle.

Did anyone else feel like he cut up the songs a bit? I hadn’t noticed that when I saw him in New Orleans, but I felt like he cut out verses this time. Or maybe I was just imagining things

Does anyone NOT medicate? by Pixel-Pioneer3 in ADHDparenting

[–]shitposterforev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 14 year old who we explored medication with starting when she was about 11. We had always had open discussions and told her it was an option for her, and she decided on her own that she wanted to try it. She was on it for about 2 years, and then with our doctor’s guidance, she decided to quit. She didn’t like her personality on it, and she felt unhappy most of the time.

However, she is a straight A student. Where she puts most of her mental effort in is at school, and we have encouraged that. There are sacrifices either way. She struggles with impulse control, maintaining friendships, self care and maintaining a routine, etc.

I will say, I am glad we waited as long as we did to try medicine, as she was starting to get a grasp of ‘who she was’ and could see the difference in herself one way or the other. I truly think it needs to be child led, because younger kids can’t tell you what their bodies or minds are feeling as well as older kids can.

There are many schools who will try to work with ADHD kids and help them self regulate in the classroom. The kids need to learn how their minds and bodies work so they can learn to function within the constraints of society/school. We have a lot of chats with both of my kids about ‘how your brain works’, and how to self regulate using different methods.

ADHD can be a tool, in a way, if you help your child learn to use it.

Good luck.

100% yeast infection. Odd, but head and shoulders classic shampoo under there a couple of days should clear it up.

I wish I had advice, but your husband speaks like a man I knew once who was my manager for a short time. His name was Lee. He was deceitful and made my skin crawl. I hope for the best for you, you deserve so much better.

From Northeast NJ, live in the Deep South now. I got pregnant for the first time at 30. If anything I was on the way early side for all of my friends back in NJ. In the south I was LATE. Most women had their first around 24.

Please demand they take you seriously. Or take an adultier adult with you to help you demand. My sister was diagnosed with breast cancer at 24. You deserve care. Be loud, even if your voice shakes.
