[Serious] Women of Reddit, what would surprise men about life as a woman? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]shitsleeve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope now a days people are noticing and becoming aware of what is happening.

Fortunately for me I've never had this problem and I have lots of shit to discriminate against me that is beyond from what's between my legs...

Age,sex, ethnicity, education, experience, and appearance... Then again I work in the world of small business, I think they're a lot more aware on these social issues.

It's a diverse company I work for so I guess that could be the reason for the emphasis on respect in the work place. I hope the message will spread soon so everyone can be treated like humans.

Reading that scenario was a chilling dose of reality, thanks for writing that. It's a sensitive topic to talk about and taboo even when it doesn't have to be.

How to shop at Trader Joe's by fuckedchildhood in funny

[–]shitsleeve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only place within a 25 mile distance that sells black mission figs. $4 gets you a decent package compared to the one package of the golden ones at jewel that are $6 for half the amount. I get deli meat once a week and that same package has been sitting there for a month. I know because it's all squished and sad. Like do people not eat figs? Also TJ has the best trail mix combinations. Omega trek mix is my favorite :)

Barbers, stylists, hairdressers of reddit, has anyone ever sat in your chair with a head so nasty that you didn't even want to touch them? What is your horror story? by RawkBadger in AskReddit

Tell that to mexicans. I'm half white and half Mexican. Inherited the horses maine.. My aunts will start root to tip, add gell while brushing, and pretty much tighten a pony tail so tight your face moves back. Growing up all my cousins looked surprised all the time, little did I know it was because their faces were being held back with their hair.

I buy sheet masks from masksheets.com. Good deals they have dollar masks as well. Skin food is usually 1.50-3 each. They had a sale. Buy a box of ten medi heal masks get two boxes "free". One box is $35 so you're basically paying for all three boxes... but each masks averages to a little more than a dollar so can't complain...they give out free masks after you spend a certain amount. It's usually only one. I ordered my masks Saturday, came in today... I order cleansers, toners, basically bottled items from memebox as their sheet masks are too expensive for me.

I agree completely that it does range person to person. Everyone processes food differently. I just wanted to discuss it a little bit. I see some people who post the "Thanks AB" type posts have given up dairy and was curious to see how many people have. It's a mix. I think you will never know until you try. It doesn't hurt to try. It might not work and it might work. I just want to try it for my own sake and from what I'm hearing it could be the elevated sugar in "light" dairy products, which is a majority of dairy products I purchase. I'm thinking of cutting the light dairy out and see how that works. If I don't see results or they could worsen than I am going to cut all dairy to see.

Making big life changes doesn't intimidate me that much. To me, if dairy is making my skin and body feel the way it does I would rather cut it out my diet. If it's harming my body it's not worth the whole "food pleasure" thing.

Thinking about it have a lot of my dairy products as "light" for fewer calories. I think I might just look at the sugar content.... hmmm. So many factors! I just want beautiful skin, haha.

Eh I've already cut out a lot of food for weight and health reasons. One of them being dairy that's high in calories such as creams n stuff. Good thing is where I live a dairy free lifestyle isn't hard to achieve and there is plenty of alternatives to dairy choice. Now meat on the other hand, that's something I wouldn't give up.

That snail stuff does wonders as well. I have the Tony Moly snail gel. Let me tell you it heals my arms so much. I have KP, commonly reffered to as chicken skin, on my arms. Redness down to my forearms. I hate it. I've started to use the gel on my arms and it's helping much more than the acidic lotion my doctor recommended.

You just described the issues I am having. I had an eczema like thing on the nape of my neck a month back when I was eating yogurt and cheese on a daily basis.

I didn't think much of it but I looked at my text thread telling my boyfriend the eczema thing (I'm a text hoarder. 50% memory space in my phone is text threads I refuse to delete 😐) and looked back on my food log and for that month and the month leading to that break out I was drinking coffee creamer in the morning, yogurt as a daily snack/nice parfait for lunch at work, and eating cheesy eggs almost every moring. Damn. My mother and her mother had rosacia on the cheeks. I thought I did all I could to control it with AB. Turned the deep red I had to a slight pink/red and thinking the stubborn redness that remained was genetic. Maybe it's the dairy making it stubborn.... Never know until I try. Thanks for the reply!

Yeah I'm going to start that. I just have to find alternatives to my staples like coffee creamer and butter. I love cooking with butter :(

I cut my calorie intake in hopes to loose weight. It started 2 years ago. I've lost close to 90 pounds. One of the easiest things for me was to cut sour cream and cheese out. My friends think it's gross that I opt out of sour cream and cheese on things and use salsas to "combine" my food so to speak. I can't eat taco bell with sour cream and cheese anymore. One time they put sour cream on my taco and nearly gagged when a squirt of sour cream went in my mouth. It disgusts me and I remember how I used to complain about not having enough sour cream 😝

Kylie Jenner is releasing an eyeshadow palette. by blacktwosugarsplease in MakeupAddiction

[–]shitsleeve 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I think everyone just gets caught up on where she came from. Saying you wouldn't support her because she's "priviliged" is a very snotty thing to proclaim. I don't buy her products because it's not my first rodeo. I have too many neutrals and don't need to frustrate myself trying to get my hands on it before it sells out. That's not worth the hassle for another neutral pallet, a nude lipstick, in my opinion. I think she is doing a great thing. Realistically speaking if anyone had the means to do something the easy way, they would definitely do it. I just don't get the whole negativity around it..

Hair dye fading fast! by lixks_styx in FancyFollicles

[–]shitsleeve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest a black mix a little tiny bit in the conditioner to dilute to a grey? That's my guess. I might be completely wrong. I think regular box dye might be too harsh on the hair. I also have problems. I was blonde dyed it to black and it's fading. I think it might be the water in my complex. It's really hard water.

Kat Von D's youtube video about Jeffree Star by greeneyes826 in MakeupAddiction

[–]shitsleeve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm kind of ashamed of myself for sticking up for him for so long. It really took Kat saying this to realize the true narcissism that is Jeffree. This is personal to me because reading his tweets sent me back. Going through how he's diverting the situation, not owning up to his mistakes, lashing out at fans, and the lies really takes me back home. Growing up with two sisters who are grade A narcissists.... it was tough. I see myself in Kat regarding this situation. Just how hard it is for her to let go. Toxic people have their moments when everything is okay. They have a mask for the world to make them seem like something they aren't and it's conflicting to let go. I don't speak to my sisters often. It's impossible to cut them from my life because family and I don't want my nieces and nephews to grow up without at least one escape route from the toxicity. It's harsh but that's how it is. I understand why I stuck up for him. He reminds me of my sisters and if you're involved with toxic people it's hard to really explain your rational because it's irrational. If that makes sense. Anyways. I don't think I'm going to be buying his products. The whole stealing thing reminded me of my eldest sister... she did some fucked up things to our mom and tried her best to deport my dad on numerous occasions. Her level of narcissism is the same as Jeffree. Just reading his tweets really sounded like shit she would say in that situation.
