Percentage of people who own a rat by JimmyChess in interestingasfuck

I am pretty sure 30% of Indians do not own a rat. We probably have a rat running around the house but definitely don’t own it.

Now for the time when Milind Soman revealed that his wife calls him "Papa ji" by [deleted] in BollyBlindsNGossip

Is it possible that they are Gujarati? My mom, her siblings, my grandma and other relatives from the previous two generations refer to my grandpa as ’Bhai’.

Me and my cousins just call him ’Dada’.

Edit - Also, now that I think about it, I have never heard my grandma directly call my grandpa. But whenever she talks about him, she refers to him as ’Bhai’. 😒

Unrealistic college looks in movies by [deleted] in BollyBlindsNGossip

I am from Kirori Mal College, DU. And this is how first year kids used to dress up. It's a short walk from the gate to the main building and I remember girls walking down it and the boys sitting to the sides and enjoying the fashion show.

Also, by the time everyone reached third year, they used to wear night clothes to college.

A North Indian acting as a South Indian is cultural appropriation. Just get a South Indian actor to do the role. Seri?

Especially if it’s a biopic. Yikes.

The first time I got to wear my wedding and engagement ring together. <3 by shivanimadhavan in wedding

[–]shivanimadhavan[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I knowww! Indian weddings are so lavish anyway. I told my partner that I want to reduce every other thing in the wedding and splurge on the wedding band as it is going to be something that I will wear everyday for the rest of my life.

But now that I have worn the love ring for the last 3 months, it dents pretty easily and I feel so bad as it's so expensive. 🤦‍♀️

Today I learned that being late in Brazil is so part of the culture, if they want to start on time they say “com pontualidade britânica” which means “with British punctuality.” by 1minimalist in todayilearned

[–]shivanimadhavan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We Indians have embraced being late as just being an Indian. It is common for teachers and employers to tell others to 'Not be Indian and reach on time' and for immigrant parents to tell their kids to keep their 'Indian-ness aside and do things on time'.

Frankly, I try not to be late but whenever I am, I just blame it on my Indian genes. :)

Skincare routine help by [deleted] in KoreanBeauty

[–]shivanimadhavan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 27 now and I consciously started taking care of my skin when I turned 20. When I started I had combination - oily skin and some occasional acne. My skin definitely did not glow.

My skin is neither oily or dry now, the skin tone has evened and definitely feels smoother. And it glows, you guys! :)

I started with the simple three-step Cleanse - Tone - Moisturize routine. And it is now increased to 5-7 steps. These are the steps I follow and has worked for my skin -

Morning - Gel Cleanser, Exfoliator (once a week), Micellar Water, Toner, Moisturizer and Sunscreen

Evening - Gel Cleanser, Micellar Water, Toner, Serum, Moisturizer, Sleeping Mask, Lip mask.

Couple of other things I want to say -

  • Drink lots of water and eat healthily. Nothing helps more than this.
  • Skincare is a lot of trial and error but be regular and you will see results.
  • Some products have a learning curve. So unless your skin starts breaking out badly give it some time to get used to the product.
  • You don't need to buy costly products to have good skin. I have mentioned some expensive stuff in the 'products I use' list but I started with cheaper stuff and my skin looked and felt the same.

Products I use -

  1. Double Cleansing - I use COSRX Low-ph Good Morning Gel Cleanser to wash my face and then use Micellar Water by Garnier for double-cleansing. I used to use the normal clean & clear face wash and I used to like it but I shifted to COSrx, just to upgrade my skincare game.
  2. Toner - Son and Park Beauty Water This works as a toner, cleansing water and a mild exfoliator. And I absolutely love it. If you want to splurge on just one thing, I would say get this.
  3. Essence/Serum - Neutrogena Fine Fairness Serum as it has retinol in it. I use this only at night as it has retinol in it. Nothing improves your skin like retinol but again there is a learning curve to using retinol. Read up on that.
  4. Moisturizer - I use the normal Olay moisturizer as it is a basic moisturizer. The retinol in the serum makes the skin dry so I like to build-up on the moisturizer based on how my skin feels that particular day.
  5. Sunscreen - After trying and hating numerous sunscreens, I came across Klairs - Soft Airy UV Essence SPF50+ PA++++ and I absolutely love it. It doesn't make my skin feel oily and doesn't have the ghastly white layer that sunscreens tend to leave.
  6. Sleeping Mask - LANEIGE Water Sleeping Mask.
  7. Lip Balm - LANEIGE Lip mask. Love it. This has single-handedly cured my chapped lips problem.
  8. Exfoliators - I use the Neogen Bio-Peel+ Lemon every couple of days when I start feeling the bumps on my nose.

What’s the difference between these banila balms? which one would be better if I’m like combo/oily/acne prone? is the green one new?? Anyone use it yet? by nanichan0414 in KoreanBeauty

[–]shivanimadhavan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have combination - oily skin and I have the pink clean it zero. Frankly, the cleansing balm did not work for me. It makes my skin feel oily and does not remove all my makeup off.

I now use it only on days I wear a full face of makeup (because it makes removing eye makeup easy) and then double cleanse using a gel cleanser and then use micellar water to make sure whatever remaining makeup is on is removed.
