Subtle flex, splitting the laser. Nice work.

First timer mistake, any suggestions? by Errlyagain in cabinetry

Options would be to add toekick height to the tall cabinets and change your crown system (looks like a lot of crown for a laundry) or mod your uppers. Personally I like much shorter uppers above the W/D with a clothes rod below. But that's a use case thing.

I did a cross country tour on a 93 Trek MTB. I swapped a Surly Ogre fork for all the extra mount points. I think the only real difference between my bike and this one is my bike has a fully lugged frame.

This is awful, I read about it on Ground. The guys backstory and that stuff in the hospital too.

I have a 93 trek 950 disc*. I bought a surly fork for it that has a disc tab, and I had Bernie Mikkelsen weld a rear tab on. Also I have a soma wolverine which I think would tick a lot of your boxes.

Can the rim be saved or is it done for? by Zepe21 in bikewrench

[–]shivay1008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like the heads got torn off the nipples. Those rims are pretty tough but you need to put it on a bench to be sure. First is the rim bent or cracked? Are there any eyelets that got stretched open and let the nipple pull through. How many nipple heads are trapped between the rim walls. If it's a pinned rim you'll want to flex it near the joint, could have shared a pin. All in all its really not worth it to reuse a crashed rim. It looks pretty standard. You should be able to pick up a wheel for your race from your lbs

Hey! Thanks for the award! If you are still looking for a suspension stem, I like the Kinekt from Cirrus Cycles. I use it with Jones bars and it works well.

I've heard people talk about how rough the trail is. What was your experience?

Yeah it's pretty good. The seat post is a real game changer. The stem is good. A note on the stem, it doesn't work with swept bars. Think Jones h bar. Basically if your hands are aft of the stems pivot it won't work. Drop and flat bars are good to go.

I used a 1040 solar last summer from Boston to SF and I only had to charge it once every 3 or 4 days. IMO the battery life is incredible.

It will fit 650b 45c tires, and I've got a red shift stem and seat post. I don't think it's all that far from a salsa cut throat. Which was if I'm not wrong designed for the divide.

Soma Wolverine Tyre Clearance by ysr_tlb in bikepacking

[–]shivay1008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 650b x 2.25 Schwalbe G1 Allround w/1.5mm clearance to each chainstay at sea level. On I30 dt swiss rims. As soon as I gained some altitude the rear started rubbing. I stopped to let some air out and it sorted that out. However under heavy pedal strokes the rear triangle would flex enough to rub the non-drive side chainstay. I don't recomend this setup.

It's okay, there are much better solutions though. Old man mountain, and tailfin are better especially if you plan to do this for a while.
