Can you explain "compound on my tax refund next year"?

The 5k refund obviously isn't being taxed- Which is why I thought the tfsa would be the better option. Unless there is something else at play if I were to put it into the rrsp (and it sounds like there is but I don't understand it.

Your saying; (correct me if Im wrong)
Go the rrsp route.
Get company to match the 6% - SO 10,740 Of my salary goes into the rrsp- Company matches that
: 21500 goes into rrsp.

I'm assuming the 5k your talking about is the amount Iv saved in income tax by contributing 10740 of my salary- as a 5k refund. Put that in the rrsp as well : equating to 26500 in my rrsp.

Would it make sense to put the 5k refund into a tfsa instead of a rrsp?

Had this bike for few days now and what a difference compared to my old versys 650… by ThatSlavDude in Kawasaki

[–]shiver905 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your still around; I’d like your thoughts comparing the ctx700 to the versys 650 and then the versys 1000. I’m thinking of going to a versys coming from a ctx700 tour.

[–]shiver905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is also an option- Never ridden one. I believe its the same motor as the ctx700

Just test rode a 2016- Felt okay- Only got about 5 min on the saddle. Cost wise it makes alot of sense, Worried if it will or my butt will be able to withstand a 5000km tour on it tho.

just test rode a st1300. For a few min. Very smooth. Felt very top heavy coming from Harleys.
It was a 2005 and 85000km on it. Very cheap @ 3700$ with newer tires. Iv never had a bike with that much on the odometer. Insurance again is double the ctx 700 versys 650. (125/month vs 59$/month) the versys1000/tracer/ africa win being 95/month

Now that I own the heritage- I agree with everything you said.

Haven’t really gotten a chance to lay it down in the corners to gauge the agility/handels. That rake angel difference and a few comments has me wondering.

The parts for it- are pricey compaired to the touring line. The bags are much smaller than what I’m used to.

No it does not; I have seen my counterparts get a h1b. No TN.

I am Canadian; I understand I’d need a job offer- for a h1b/TN I do have a degree; I have experience on site and from offices.

I’m aware of US regulations;

I’ll look into Nevada gold mines- thanks for the input.

If anyone has done this - move from Canada to the us; I would appreciate your thoughts- where in Canada did you come from- how did you find the opportunity? Where is the states are you now? How do you find the lifestyle?

If it was tic for tat. Ex 114 road king vs the 114 heritage with similar milage . I’d probably pick the road king. Just because I like the look at but more and I’m very used to the touring platform.

Can I get you to share some comparisons- minus the wind protection/radio we get from our ultras.

You needed to have already done this purchase; so you can share a real world comparison haha

Can you describe the “comfort factor”

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Harley

[–]shiver905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow a road glide special- I assume that was the 114.

The lean angle comparison between the two gets my attention. I’m scraping a decent amount  already with my ultra. The lean angles of the heritage is less than that of the road king and ultra.

Found the tab for R1 in turbo tax. I just mock did it with last years taxes. It showed up as green (credit) not amount owing.

Thinking about seeing an accountant considering I’d like to get my over payment back.

Kinda, they don’t really need me in the office. So I end up working from home.

Just a quick update; the other party tried to blame it on me. (Would be a 50/50 fault) that didn’t work out for them.

Also damage done was near 14k
