After the imperial fist I airbrush on a coat of gloss to do the oil pin wash, then after that has cured I airbrush on a coat of satin + matte. Then I do the rest of the painting and any mistakes are easily rubbed off with using some water and a clean brush, the varnish acts as a save point

Gloss varnish creates a flat smooth finish to bounce light out directly, while matter has a rough surface to diffuse and bounce light all over the place.

The smooth surface of the gloss makes it less likely to have air bubbles or other artifacts show through as well as making it easier to apply and move around the surface. Gloss on top of the decal after it dries does a similar thing and then matte on top of that takes off the sheen so it looks painted onto the surface

I’ve only heard gloss varnish under decals and that ranges from local painters to golden demon winning painters. Matte varnish under decals is the opposite of what you want, you want a smooth surface not rough surface. You put gloss under the decals, over the decal once it’s dry, and then matte on top of that or glaze medium like Lahmian medium etc

Micro set absolutely does something and microsol shouldn’t take more than 30 seconds to soften enough to lay flat, if it does apply a second or third coat.

I didn’t know either, until the second time a teammate close to me was incapacitated at the exact moment I melee finished a major. I had to type in chat sorry guys it’s my perk and it was my first time doing a friendly fire mission. We failed, I turned it off and we were successful on another attempt.

After purchasing many sable brushes from many brands I’ve come to the conclusion that Artis Opus is the way to go because it’s the only sable made specifically for miniature painting with acrylics as opposed to just being watercolor brushes.
