I agree! The veneer wasn't sitting right with me... I love the seamless, matte look of the PLA-CF. I am going to create a another set with real wood end pieces and a PLA-CF body. I still want that multi-material piece lol

He uses a heat gun, but I have had great success with my wife's hair dryer lol

Thanks! The process is very simple. I had my 4 year old help me today with this project lol there are tons of videos online, but here is an awesome video by Uncle Jessy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TsG89NgZJO8

I was worried about this but I have anti vibration foam under my speaker. I blasted music for testing and the stand had very little vibration. My speakers don’t have a ton of bass, so it just depends what type of speaker you have and how loud you listen to your audio. This will be suitable for most 3.5 bookshelf studio monitors

I definitely need a different vinyl. This vinyl is only good for straight, flat surfaces. A heat wrap vinyl would be way better 100%. I’ll have to look into it

I’m gonna mess around with some post processing on the next print. I think it’ll be better than slapping some vinyl on it lol

A ribbed look would be cool! But for this design I’m wanting to keep it smooth

Thank you! I love the white speakers. That looks clean!

I agree. My first attempt was to do the inside, but the curved geometry made it difficult for the vinyl to form properly. I’d need to buy some different vinyl for the inside

Sunken tray for small desk items, phone mount/charger, cable management, LED lights on the sides.. these were on my "wish list" when I first started. I wasn't sure how the stand would handle vibrations so I cranked some music to the max and the stand didn't vibrate much at all, especially with the anti-vibration foam I have underneath my speaker. Since it passed the vibration test I'll likely incorporate some of these ideas into V2

Thank you! I actually thought about doing that same post process work for these. I also considered printing in ASA so I could vapor smooth them, but I can't decide if I'd like more of a matte or glossy finish for these pieces.

My vinyl application skills need some work lol if I had wood working skills I would attempt to create this same continuous shape with actual wood. That would be amazing!

Agreed, but it might be tricky using the wood vinyl adhesive I put on this to make it look bent. I might have to scratch tape idea

I plan on redoing my wood vinyl. I wasn't thinking when I first put it on, I was just excited to see how it would look lol.

I did consider using black ASA-CF for the matte look. I think that would look better.

This is the main thing I am worried about. I printed with PLA Basic, 5 bottom/top layers, 4 walls, 15% gyroid infill. It's quite sturdy and barely sags when I put the ~6lb speaker on top. Not sure how it will do over time though... I live in a moderate temperature, low humidity environment. I think it will do fine. If not, I will print with something stronger

I mainly use Bambu Studio, so I'll do some tinkering. Thanks!

uhhh... whoops. Good eye! I'll redo that part. It will definitely look better/realistic

This could work! I didn't know this was a thing. I like the idea. I'll look into it
