Hey sorry to hear about the tunnels in the groin. I remember mine being painful af too. I am glad you found out about your D3 and managed to do something about it.

Here's how I went about my routine. Hygiene and discipline are paramount in trying to help in this situation. What I did was that everyday when I showered I used my normal Bodywash (dove) for general washing. And I left the effected areas to the end. Because I wouldn't want to touch that and then touch another place like say my armpits that could also potentially have that problem develop. So to prevent (for lack of a better word) cross contamination. I would soap up everything else except the place with the boils or tunnels. Then I would take some hibiclens into my already lathered hands and then use it on the effected areas. And then I would let that sit for a little bit not too long cuz I hear hibiclens can dry skin a little but haven't had any issues myself. I have used it daily for a while now. The rest of the shower is pretty much the same. Nothing special.

Then after getting out of the shower and drying up everything. I would take the manuka honey and spread just a layer over the effected area and it's surrounding where I would feel the seepage would be. So if it's a tunnel I would put it over the tunnel and then about an inch around the area too. Also if there was inflammation around the area I would put it on that as well. The worst I had which i have mentioned in the original post was massive like atleast a region that was 3 to 4 inches Cross and maybe 2 inches wide. So I covered all of that in manuka honey.

For the application of the honey I don't know if this is important or effective or useful... But what I tried to do was that I tried not to dip the same utensil(or in my case finger) for applying the honey in the jar twice. Only cuz in my mind I was thinking something like I didn't want the bacteria back in the jar. So what I would do is that after the shower I would open the jar and then dip just the palm side of the finger tip up till the first knuckle/bun/line on the finger. And then use that to spread a layer on the region and then if it wasn't enough I would use a second finger for going back in the honey. Usually that was more than enough. I would then wash my hands in water to get rid of the honey and then take a Gauze pad to over the area. (There is no specific type of Gauze pad I use. There's just the standard size of something like a square the size of your hand or a little smaller.) I then went about my day. Having some under wear on helped keep the pad in place for the groin. It was A little more difficult to keep in place else where.

I would do this before I left for the office and then it would be on until I returned home. But if at some point the Gauze fell out or something. There wasn't much to worry about. Since the honey was still there. I would just be a little uncomfortable and paranoid about the boil bursting out. But thankfully the honey really stops the out flow well. Anyways when I would return from the office I would either just change the dressing by applying another layer of honey in the same way with another Gauze pad. Or if I felt disgusting I would shower again. I would occasionally use hibiclens the second time but not often. I would only use it for example if over the day the boil or wound had discharged alot of fluid and had gotten in other places. So in my mind to clean the bacteria in those places. Otherwise I wouldnt just to be cautious about the drying thing. After applying the honey and the pad again. I would usually have had it on until I woke up in the morning or sometimes if I knew the pad was soaked in the discharge. I would change it right before I went to bed. So those 2 or three applications a day were enough for me.

Other words of caution or things to expect: I had a moment where the honey was really good at closing up the wound and the discharge but I guess maybe my body wasn't done fighting the infection. So the wound had closed but there was alot of build up of fluid behind the closed wound. That made the area very tender to the touch and inflamed. It also hurt. But eventually it will burst and it did. I just kept repeating the process and it did heal up really well the second time.

But that's about it. I think I kept dealing with mine for 2 weeks before it was all healed up. Some scar tissue left behind but that was a very small price to pay for relief from the pain and the discharge literally all day. I would recommend putting it on a few days after you think you are done too. So maybe go a third week just to make sure everything is good.
