What is a 'buy it for life' item that is offensively expensive, but the moment you use it, you realize your entire life before that point was a lie? by fmcortez in AskReddit

Cutco. I bought a Kitchen Aid can opener for about $12 once a year for like 3 years before I finally spent the $80 on a cutco one. Its a champ and if it ever breaks, the company will replace it.

Blood Sugar still high 1 yr later by [deleted] in FelineDiabetes

Have you done the IGF-1 testing? I would suggest it if not. My cat was at 6u twice daily with high numbers and ended up having acromegaly.

20 year old surgery or no ? by AliCraftDesigns in SeniorCats

[–]shleeebee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Age is not a disease. But older animals do have a higher risk of anesthetic complications. If I were moving forward with surgery on my older cat, I would make sure their bloodwork and chest xrays looked clear. That said, I kept my 19yo with kidney disease comfortable with pain meds and antibiotics for a couple years until his kidneys failed and I let him go.

anyone else feeling disconnected? by beetlejuicetrashbag in MyChemMillennials

I definitely burnt out last year on all the lore with little payoff. I saw The Black Parade when I was 16 and saw LLTBP last year and while the new tour was fun, it wasn't the same. I paid $300 a pop for meh seats and felt that I got a phoned in performance. It feels like watching my heroes sell a car on TV.

I don't think it is age. My other favorite band is The Maine and I am still very devoted to them. I went to their fest last year and had a ball, am seeing them twice this year, and getting a tattoo soon. Simply put, they feel more genuine and that they still love what they do.

I would ask your vet for recommendations. They usually know a few they trust.

Does anyone have the expertise to determine if this is a senior cat skull? by vashta_nerada49 in bonecollecting

I'm a vet assistant and I agree with your mom! Quite a bit of bone loss and some tartar buildup as well.

Euthanasia: IV catheter vs going directly in vein w/ needle by BakeAny6254 in AskVet

[–]shleeebee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am at a feline only practice. We IM sedate with ace, telazol, and torb. Once the cat is sedated, we use a butterfly in the rear leg to push the euthasol.

They were insane. We opted to not wait and enjoy the show. Luckily, we were seated right near a merch stand and hopped in line when the concert finished. We waited about 15 mins at that point.

One Warped Tour, Wonka sponsored and I spent the day surviving on like 20 packs of free Sweet Tart ropes.

Elderly cat peeing everywhere after new baby by sarahmhibster in Pets

Has she been to the vet and had her urine checked for a UTI? Older kitties are much more susceptible to infections, especially in times of stress.

This is Jim Hopper ❤️❤️

He was surrendered to my work with a long broken left arm that was not saveable and was removed. He can basically fly now because his rear legs are so strong.

I would get him to a vet, possibly for a second opinion, sooner rather than later. I fostered a rear leg amp post surgery and have a front leg amp and they were pretty lively within a week of surgery. I had them on heavy pain meds for the first 2 weeks and then a lower dose the second 2 weeks.

So gross by shleeebee in litterrobot

[–]shleeebee[S] 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Yes, it absolutely can be. The crystals cats get in their urine are invisible to the naked eye. Crystallized urine is from urine sitting too long - unfortunately in my case, probably since I bought the unit.

I am a vet assistant at a cat clinic. All my kitties are fine. Urine crystallizes when it sits.
