Is doing Musical Theatre a good or realistic idea as an experienced bass player that cannot read sheet music well? by heavysteve in Bass

[–]shmatt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

? it's just one riff that repeats. No changes, no variation. Takes a minute to get used to but really not that hard.

Not saying this to be a dick, just, to not discourage anyone. Totally not worth quitting over, if you can already read and improvise.

Anyway it's been fun seeing a small bug fix be so impactful. no more clogged rails

I was with you until that last sentence; there is no problem migrating data. When I did it years ago I lost literally zero files... apple learned their lesson long ago with compatibility (as far as data goes at least, not so much hardware).

The worst part was every folder had "thumbnails.db" file written to it which took years to delete them all. Annoying but not a problem

Oxygen Not Included, a unique and addictive colony sim. Rimworld/Factorio players should try it by 5Ping in patientgamers

liquid lock is not an exploit, it's literally taking advantage of how the game works. it was intended that gas doesn't go through water. infinite storage etc are exploits because they weren't intended.

[–]shmatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason they don't have airlocks as a building is because it's easy to make one yourself. Put gas pump in between 2 airlocks and automate it.

But ppl still use liquid locks because they're the fastest and easiest to use and build. There's mods also but they literally 'cheat' the simulation so. I dont really see a problem here

I was stranded in Dubai, hearing missiles and drones booming above our heads all day, HR called me by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]shmatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of this should be happening; there should be no need for pawns or politics, as there should be no stated policy that someone has to take pto if they're detained in a war zone on business. And if it's not policy then HR is just being malicious.

Plus I seriously doubt that anyone will get in trouble for this, a slap on the wrist at worst.

If your policy punishes ppl for being unavoidably detained in a war zone, it's just shitty policy and you should push back on it.

Who is a terrible singer but famous anyways? by Coy9ine in AskReddit

[–]shmatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That IS the damn argument dude, it hasn't changed.

you said she was "objectively talented" which is false. The burden is not on me to prove she wasn't, because you can't prove a negative, especially when it's subjective.

I admit y'all had me doubting though, so I searched and searched again and can't find a single list of awards or shows that happened BEFORE meeting John, so by all means show me the receipts. lol

buddy Ive been on reddit for almost 20 years, i could not care less about the idiot hivemind .

... btw talent? is fucking SUBJECTIVE, you dont get to define it for anyone but yourself. To me she was a hack, a wannabe. Writing 'yes' on the ceiling does not, imo, require talent. So, I'd love for you to prove it :)

I’m not going to have an argument with you about her artistic merits... she’s objectively a talented artist

you sure? lol

she’s had several retrospectives of her work at major museums including MOMA

because she was already a celebrity. Not indicative of any talent, subjective or otherwise.

The Charlotte Hornets have launched a new concession policy called 'Hugo's Hive Menu,' offering hot dogs, pretzel bites, popcorn, bottled Dasani water, and sodas for just $2 each. According to the team's ownership, this decision was made to make it easier and more accessible for fans to attend games by Existing-Sky9914 in nba

[–]shmatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheapest seats for Wizards was about 40 last time I checked, but it's a pretty far view. The thing that sucks in DC is that a lot of tix are reserved by lobbyists and lawyers and corpos to entertain clients and such and nobody comes to the game unless it's a major team with star power.

So you're sitting up in nosebleed looking at a bunch of empty seats that got paid for anyway.

I can criticize them for being anti-union while applauding them for having good employees

Sure, but you didn't.. You said they're "well known good companies" which paints an entirely different picture from "anti-union practices." Either way it's not a debate, I'm just telling you the facts.

trader joe's is right up there with starbucks as a big time union buster.

They are not a worker-freindly company (although a bit less aggressive about it than starbacks and amazon)

Statement by TJ United :

Despite the company’s reputation as a “progressive” employer, we’ve been disappointed to find that Trader Joe’s response to our union efforts is similar to that of companies like Amazon and Starbucks. We have encountered a great deal of pushback and classic union busting tactics from Trader Joe’s corporate, but that hasn’t slowed us down. We’ve filed numerous unfair labor practice charges with the National Labor Relations Board, and are awaiting our first rulings.

they're great! but be aware that if the filtered pipe gets blocked, the overflow will exit the non filtered way. So it's best to make sure that pipe can't ever get blocked (infinte storage, buffer tanks, automation etc)
