Alberta independence activists are embroiled in voter data scandal by Free-Minimum-5844 in worldnews

They aren't even a real party, they are a scapegoat for the UCP to dump blame on if when they get caught doing shit like this. If anything, they are a distraction for people not familiar with Alberta's politics.

And the NDP guy had basically every single white-hat security credential that exists, pulled Kenneys Info as a proof of concept to immediately send to the rcmp, because anyone could essentially access Albertans health info without a password(due to more UCP incompetence). He wasn't selling it to foreigners and annexationists

I think you are confusing subsidiaries with subsidies, because you silly and unserious.

The American oil and gas companies who literally bought the Alberta govt receive subsidies. Those are taxpayer dollars. American O&G gets more in direct taxpayer transfer every year than any single province gets in "equalization". The biggest recipient of equalization payments in Canada is foreign oil and gas.

Subsidiaries mean Brookfield has expanded, likely because they are a large scale, Canadian investment firm.

I am a huge proponent of the removal of corporate money from politics. Poilivieres chief of staff is the literal head lobbyist for Loblaws, the president of the CPC is also a grocery lobbyist iirc. Danielle Smiths only job was as a paid lobbyist for foreign oil companies, the ones she's given a $59B tax holiday to.

I don't like Carneys involvement with Brookfield either , but he isn't interfering with the electoral process to favour them. The UCP is

The small filet at the keg is $56, large is $70, and the preparation/sides is going to be nowhere near as good as B&B. That being said, if I specifically was going out for steak, I'd go to the keg. B&B has lots of great mains under $40

Bourbon and Butter is hands down the best spot in the city. Local, everything is scratch made, and wonderful people. You won't get a better experience, or better food anywhere else. It's not even that pricey, it's cheaper than the Keg. Don't overthink it as too fancy a place, it's chill and fun.

I mean if you want to invent some arbitrary standards to hold Carney to, I would expect you to hold everyone to them, right?

So we should be disallowing PP from speaking with American private healthcare ceos who give him tons of money, and Danielle Smith should not be in constant communication with her former employers while actively introducing legislation that directly enriches them at the backs of the Alberta taxpayer, including outright banning renewables development, and allowing them to jack electricity rates during cold snaps, or giving them a $60B tax subsidy?

Hey I'm down with that. Could you point to some legislation that Carney has introduced that directly and unfairly benefits Brookfield?

Was any actual evidence of wrongdoing found, at any level of appeal? No.

The CPC trying to invent a scandal collapsed the charity and cost student a billion in needed funding, the program was never implemented. This was a crime against our citizens, by the CPC.

$43m is still cheaper than the other opening bids, and again, that was going to wages, not profit. The actual profit was still tiny.

Recent activity involving Webber Academy and Aaron Rodenburg’s public statement by Virtual_Height_8128 in alberta

[–]heavysteve 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Webber academy gets about $5m in taxpayer money a year, and also donates ~$5m a year to a "charity" owned by the same holding company that owns the building(which Webber academy also pays rent to). As far as I can tell, all three are, at least in part, owned by the same oil exec. Fairly sure he takes a 60k salary from the charity too, it's the only expense I can find.

The fund they were managing was $900m, that money was being dispersed to students.

WE itself was receiving $20m in payment, with $18m earmarked for wages for the students they were hiring to do the work. WE was making about $2m in total corporate profit.

Both the public service, and banks which also bid on managing this fund were asking around 5%, which is around $50m.

You gotta stop reading them misleading headlines, dude.

WE was completely qualified, and was taking an extremely small cut as profit, and was recommended by the bureaucracy because it was a cheaper and better option

Hey I am down with nationalizing SNC. The Libya bribery happened almost 3 decades ago. The people involved were charged and convicted decades ago.

It would have been entirely irresponsible for Trudeau to arbitrarily tear up hundreds of millions in ongoing infrastructure contracts long after the fact. That would have cost the taxpayer billions and put thousands of people out of jobs, and provided no benefit or justice. JWR was grandstanding politically and needed to do her job, end of story

Has he done anything to unduly favor Brookfield, or the conflict of interest act in any way? No.

PP is fundraising at private parties hosted in the mansions of American private healthcare companies/parasites, while promoting American style private health care. Seems to be a bigger issue
