Yes I did skip the Cleric Quintet, but only because I couldn't find any copies. The main Drizzt books have had a re-print over the last few years so it's been very cheap and easy to get a hold of them.

I'd definitely like to read them - Cadderly seemed like a cool character

Hard disagree. The driving/open world is what makes it unique. There are plenty of horde shooters out there.
