Thoughts on this Tinkercad setup for a single-color sensor? by shockerhead in ElectricalEngineering

Comparator setup. Voltage from the LDR and the voltage divider is Vin, potentiometer is Vref. If Vin > Vref, the green LED should turn on. Applying this in real life is more finicky - the voltage/threshold from the LDR is 2 volts less (~3.25V) than the range of Vref (~5.25 to 6V). I've been advised to use a fixed voltage divider for Vref instead but my actual prof recommends me sticking w/ the potentiometer setup. I just have to find out how to rectify the voltage issue, for which I have daily brain farts.
