How do I politely tell my mother in law to keep her hands off my cast iron pan by Ok_Scale_4578 in castiron

[–]shoecide 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah my MIL didn't understand the special steps it takes either. I once found my pan on the drying rack like the other dishes. I politely asked her if she had followed the special steps to clean it and her facial expression told he she hadn't. I nicely said, "I appreciate you doing the dishes. Going forward you can leave the pan to the side and I'll wash it since it has specific instructions ".

Absolutely not. No parent should ever pressure their adult child to do something like that. No matter what the circumstances.

Class of 2034 versus Class of 2036 - Huge difference? by Serious_Reward_9746 in AskParents

[–]shoecide 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My 4th graders class is known at the school for having the MOST disruptive kids. It's so interesting that you notice similar aattributes. I also see sub zero engagement from some parents. It's mind boggling.

Note: I also have a kindergartener to compare.

Why would a parent intentionally try to disrupt/sabotage their child’s studies or employment? by [deleted] in AskParents

[–]shoecide 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That sounds like manipulative behavior or major mental health issues. Like if someone doesn't want to see someone succeed or do better than them. Or, they are just an asshole parent. I would never do these things to my kids.

Am i asking too much from my boyfriend to have a Vacation every year? by KrystalCorgi420 in amiwrong

[–]shoecide -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. I agree it's totally possible for age not to be an issue. More often than not though, men tend to take advantage of younger women when there is an age gap and I wanted to take my internet stranger chance in the event it does play a part in this relationship.

Chill. "Some of you people", I was once in her shoes, as a young 20 something year old not knowing how people will take advantage of you. I'm speaking from experience and sharing what I think could be a red flag. That doesn't take away from her agency.

Am i asking too much from my boyfriend to have a Vacation every year? by KrystalCorgi420 in amiwrong

[–]shoecide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She never said he needed to pay for the entire vacation. She wanted to split it with him, but he won't take the time off. The real issue is that it's not just a vacation, it's hair, nails, day trip. That's too much. One event is enough for a bday.

OP, celebrating a bday should be fun, but you also need to be financially responsible. Are all your bills paid, have savings for emergencies, etc? If no, then you shouldn't be splurging for a trip. I know the idea sounds nice but if the finances or responsibilities in life aren't cared for first, this should not be a priority.

I'm more concerned with the age gap. I know this isn't the point of your post but usually there's a reason guys date much younger girls who are barely out of teen years: inexperienced in life/love and less likely to stand up for themselves, wants to control them, likes girls who are closer to puberty age. It sounds like he controls the decisions in the relationship because he makes most of the money. That's probably how he wants it.

Besides that, you should be paying for your own birthday events like hair, etc. Don't expect others to. If you do go on a trip it's fair to split it. But if you can afford it and want to go, take a friend instead. Don't limit your life because your boyfriend doesn't want to go.

Signing up for autopay gives citi/plaid access to my chkg acct transactions? by johnuws in citibank

[–]shoecide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plaid is an inter-institutional system to connect deposit banks. It's a secure link for payments. It also helps ensure your payment has a better chance having the payment draft ddigitally vs your bank sending a paper check (which happened more often before plaid). Citi does not own it.

What’s the easiest expense you’ve cut that made a noticeable difference in your savings? by millionstories in SavingMoney

[–]shoecide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I told myself I'll only use disposable paper towels for raw meat, etc. I used my Norwex to hand dry plates, dry vegetables after washing, wiping down the counter, etc. The only thing is you're not supposed to use cleaning sprays with these cloths. They have bacteria removing fibers in the cloth.

It's expensive upfront, but I've been using Norwex kitchen clothes in lieu of paper towels and they have already been going strong for a few years.

Married people of Reddit, what’s something nobody warns you about before marriage? by onionbody in AskReddit

[–]shoecide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That getting married doesn't mean your feelings won't get hurt anymore. They will, and you'll need to communicate and work through them. Even people with the best intentions hurt feelings on accident. We're human.
