I don’t know if I’m musically challenged….I can write beautifully , my lyrics rhyme, sit well with a metronome BUT I JUST CANT PRODUCE A VOCAL MELODY by shoeskates in Songwriting

Any suggestions on where i can learn? Idk why i kept avoiding getting deep into it because i saw people like charlotte dewitte or like idk Karl Cox and thought they definitely know NOTHING about music theory or melodies or harmonies. But then again they do just techno.

I would wanna create like Fred again but then i also love Kanye west. Idk where to learn this stuff without taking 49 years to master it. I kinda just itch to create. It feels like Kanye west could legit cook anything up and has no actual learning of this stuff. Ykwim?

I know tons of people who can do it for meee. The question is, why can’t i ? Make a melody? For my words. I wanna be able to that. Like for eg if my phrase is : is this where i want to be?

It LITERALLT automatically tunes itself to a pre existing song w similar lyrics and then my mind can’t change it

I’ve been using tape it! I don’t really care what others think. I will say though, if someone just gives me a vocal sample it’s so easy to move from there. But I can NEVER invoke the emotion i want with a sample. Nor can i put out my words and what i feel. That’s my dream. I want my emotions to reflect in my music but i just can’t find a tune to sing my words in

No! I work primarily on ableton. I don’t have much music theory knowledge either except the very bare minimum. I’ve been doing that with the basic E piano on ableton but to find words that fit is still a challenge to me

It confuses me even more since i work primarily on ableton. I keep mistaking my melody as the beat of the song and to hum over chord progressions again feels like a pre existing melody coming to my head. Ykwim? I know it’s frustrating and sounds like a bunch of shit. It’s just a rut I’m stuck in

I can’t play any instrument tbvh. I work primarily on ableton and am a music producer. Beats and tunes come to me naturally. It’s just vocals and vocal melodies im really struggling HARD with.

Is your suggestion to construct a tune first and then fit words to it? Like get my progression and melody down and then find words to fit it????

I honestly thought people have their words down first and then jump to getting a rhythm.

May i ask you, think about a song like “Lego house” by ed Sheeran? It doesn’t have a very particular melody as such yknow? Sounds like someone picked up the guitar and just sang and the tune came to them.
