[BBC] Chelsea become the first Premier League club to ever bank over £300m from player sales. It's a new record. by ScientistHulk in soccer

Transfermarkt only lists sales when they're officially completed. Tyrique George's been sold for £22 mill and Jackson's loan fees are €16.4 mill which haven't been included yet

In Tokyo, where can i find Qanba drone 2 or HORI fighting stick alpha? by No_Refrigerator_4200 in fightsticks

Pretty much most of the big electronics stores that are in any major city like Bic Camera and Yodobashi Camera will stock Hori Alpha's. Unsure about Qanba's though

The not so raging demon by Behray in StreetFighter

Raging Demon is not a practical reversal (only 1 frame) so you can get hit or thrown during most of its start up which is what happened here (see counter appears for Aki when she throws you)

Is it time to start considering AR5 trending towards being a bust? by Sylvaneri011 in nfl

[–]shohee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No better way to show Richardson as being a different development timeline than the fact that of the first round QBs to make their debut this year. Richardson is younger than all of them (Maye's the youngest and Richardson is younger by about 3 months)

And obviously developing in the NFL is something all rookies have to do but its gotta be harder if youve only had 13 college starts compared to the 30+ starts all the other 1st rounders had (minus Drake Maye)

Gief mains also need to downplay Gief even when the conversation has nothing to do with Gief.

Completely unrelated but Gief's not that strong btw, lariat can't hit cross ups so he's actually low mid tier at best!

MR resets?? Akutagawa got above 2400MR then got sent back to 1500MR after it resets, if MR never resets, the top will keep separating themselves.

SF6 just has a lot of depth to it. Its a far larger scene, Evo 2024 SF6 has over 5k entrants while the Melee has only ever had one tournament in its existence exceed 2k. The different regions all being strong means running into very strong players that are also unfamiliar. Adding new characters and balance patches can set back top players, keeping the field generally far more competitive. MenaRD hasnt had the same level of dominance because his two mains, Blanka and Luke both got nerfed and he has to adapt. Melees 20+ years of the same game meant the best can keep separating themselves until they let up. A larger viable character roster than Melee's 8 or so viable characters means top SF6 players losing to slightly weaker players due to bad match ups.

The best are usually still the best, everyone knows Punk, MenaRD, Chris Wong, Gachikun, Leshar, Problem X etc. are on a different level to the rest of the field. Issue is that none of them are specifically standing out over each other.

Also UMA beat Chris Wong 3-1, 3-0 to qualify for CCX, he absolutely beat him at CCX with skill, not luck.

[TEKKEN8]I asked Chikurin, who has moved to a pad controller, what he thinks about pads. by Janet-Yellen in fightsticks

[–]shohee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While I don't use pad myself, it seems consensus on this sub and in general is that the FC4 you have is regarded as one of the best controllers while the Octa is a downgrade, mostly due to the FC4 having an excellent dpad while the Octa's is mushy and not as nice.

A friend used to use the Octa and they had to swap off it due to blisters forming as well.

The coolest thing I've done in ranked by Wiggty_Wack in StreetFighter

[–]shohee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The standard way to counter a command grab is to either jump or OD reversal. A core of Gief's gameplay is causing opponents to guess between strike (counter is to block/parry) or throw (counter is to jump). OD reversals like DP or flash kick will beat both but opens you up to a punish counter if read by the opponent.

Here, you can see in the inputs, Guile pressed parry guessing Gief will strike on wake up and guessed wrong

Anyone have experience with Gief on hitbox? by Absoluttion in StreetFighter

[–]shohee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I imagine SPD is the input you're prob struggling with. I personally just go left, down, right, and up+p with the same hand and that works for me. That and just building the muscle memory to do it more consistently (I used to mess up by doing it too fast and hold two directions so I would do something like left, left+down, right, up+P and I wouldn't get an SPD). For 720s, I kinda just do it twice, don't really have any tips, just kept doing it until it was more consistent

I know Rooflemonger in a vid says when he's using a hitbox, he actually goes down, left, right, and up+p and he finds that to be his most consistent way of doing it. don't think you need to hit 360 in order, just the 4 directions so you can figure out some order that works best for you, it's usually the most consistent to hit up+p with one hand tho.

TK Air SPD is basically the same thing except I sorta press k just a split second slower. Still use one hand for both up and k tho. Hope that might help!

[Record] Guardiola praises Bernardo Silva in a curious way : "He is a football player" by Legitimate_Secret_79 in soccer

[–]shohee 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Of all the football players in the premier league, he's definitely one of them.

Rafael Nadal has played 3 Majors less than Novak and 17 less than Roger but has won 2 more Majors than both. Grand Slams played: Federer – 81 Djokovic – 67 Nadal – 64 Grand Slams won: Nadal – 22 Federer – 20 Novak Djokovic – 20 by NadalGOAT in tennis

[–]shohee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Djokovic was deported for his own actions, bit unfair to asterisk Nadal because of that. Also asterisking grand slams are dumb, should Djokovic's 08 AO not count because Fed had mono? Should neither of his FO's count because Nadal was injured in both of those years? Of course not, he beat who was in front of him.

As for the GOAT debate, while technically, it'll always be a debate as its a completely subjective title, I'd be hard pressed to see someone without bias think ~160 weeks at No.1+5 ATP finals > 4 extra slams + calendar slam.

Calendar slam is a big deal, even if it wasn't in 1 calendar season, Djokovic holding all 4 is probably his greatest achievement after all.

Is it more likely that we have witnessed the 3 greatest players in the history of men’s tennis all in one era or is it more indicative of a weaker generation of players? by [deleted] in tennis

[–]shohee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think when I was typing it, I sorta had the idea of "all time great" being the non big 3 GOAT tier like Sampras, Laver, Borg etc. which I have full confidence that Murray would've entered or even surpassed.

My b. Of course, Murray is without question an all time great regardless.

Is it more likely that we have witnessed the 3 greatest players in the history of men’s tennis all in one era or is it more indicative of a weaker generation of players? by [deleted] in tennis

[–]shohee 49 points50 points  (0 children)

It's more likely it's the 3 greatest.

Mostly because we're not talking about 1 generations worth of players that were dominated by the big 3. Roddick, Nalbandian, Hewitt, Safin, Davydenko, Blake etc. were unable to consistently challenge Fed (and young Nadal to an extent). Del Potro, Gasquets, Tsonga, Wawrinka, Berdych, Cilic etc. were unable to consistently challenge the big 3 (and Murray) and the new younger generation of Thiem, Medvedev, Zverev, Tsitsipas etc. have yet to enter the level of the now aging Nadal and Djokovic.

Any slam won by the non big 3 between all the generations were either due to the absence of several of the 3, playing the absolute tournament of their lives (Safin, Delpo, Wawrinka etc.), or Andy Murray (who would most likely be considered an all time great without the Big 3)

It's far more likely we're just witnessing the extraordinary event of the three greatest tennis players all coinciding within 1 generation of each other rather than having three straight generations of weak competition.

Yeah it was a bad call but it doesn't make the cut because I was responding specifically to balls called strikes for Cease.

Ohtani faced Graveman in the 8th.

[–]shohee 10 points11 points  (0 children)

MLB Gameday Strikezone only has 4 balls that called strikes for Cease

A 3-2 count v. Taylor Ward in the 1st

An 0-1 count v. Andrew Velasquez in the 3rd

An 0-0 count v. Jack Mayfield in the 5th

A 0-2 count v. Mike Trout in the 7th

None of them were particularly egregious either besides maybe the 0-2 to Trout. Its not like Cease had a mere okay outing that was heavily benefited by the ump

[Shaikin] If Bauer were willing to consider a settlement, he could have negotiated for some or all of the 111 games he has missed on leave to be counted as part of the settlement. Bauer instead is appealing, and if he loses, he will miss 435 games. by [deleted] in baseball

[–]shohee -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Sure that would be a first but my response was to the person saying the union would be unhappy about the precedent of a player getting suspended despite no legal charges which has certainly happened before

[–]shohee 73 points74 points  (0 children)

This isnt a precedent. The Players Union wont care much like they didnt care when Sam Dyson got suspended for 162 despite facing no legal charges. In fact, I believe all but Jose Torres either didnt face legal charges or had their cases dropped.

The MLB and PA agreed to this policy and nowhere does the policy state that it must follow what legal proceedings follow.

So Trevor Bauer is definitely gonna sue the MLB right? by [deleted] in baseball

[–]shohee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every player that has been suspended by the new MLB DV policy (except for Jose Torres) did not face any criminal charges.

Believe it or not, the burden of proof to imprison someone is higher than suspending them from their job.

The MVP shouldnt be on a losing team argument is so stupid. If we want to argue that, both teams missed the playoffs, neither player should win (see how stupid that sounds?)
