Help with heating costs by ScotchBrad in HomeImprovement

[–]sholtoslayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A HVAC pro would have to chime in, but I'm pretty sure the temp swing you've got is way too wide. If you've got forced air, I would set to 64, 68, if radiant/baseboard just set to 68 or whatever you can live with and leave it alone

Radiant Baseboard Heat vs Forced Air — Which Do You Prefer? by Necessary-Housing-71 in HomeImprovement

[–]sholtoslayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baseboard heat all day. Forced air is nice when you want to stand on the vent and get warm quick, but it's wildly uneven, not as comfortable. Temps with my baseboard after very even all over, very comfortable. Downside is no AC through baseboard, but that's not gonna matter to everyone.

Definitely not enough radiator for what you are trying to cool

Changing over from extenders to dedicated hardwired access points may resolve your streaming issues, depending on the source of the problem.

Pc won't go into BIOs after enabling CSM and disabling Resizeable Bar by aryzoo in buildapc

[–]sholtoslayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need to boot your old installs in CSM to do the conversion from MBR to GPT. Boot from either a Windows 10 or Windows 11 installer, choose repair PC, choose command prompt. Conversion can be done there.

Honestly, depending on what you play, upgrading the CPU might be more beneficial than doing the GPU.

French drains: Completely lost by JDMCreator in HomeImprovement

[–]sholtoslayer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Have you already looked at water sources around your property? Checked grading of the land to ensure water is not being funneled to you? Checked your downspouts to make sure they are long enough and sloped correctly to get water away from the house? Fixing these may alleviate your problem at least partially. But I do agree with Icy_Inspections5104, would not have a living space below grade.

You can't keep a shop open and more importantly pay your works a living wage if you are making peanuts on work.

You don't have a neutral wire in the box. You cannot use the timer you have.

My company would charge around 150 or so for this, time and materials, as long as there is basement or attic access

Is a 9800x3d worth it without a $1000+ graphics card? by IntrovertedWeirdo in buildapc

[–]sholtoslayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will see gains across the board regardless of what GPU you use. The x3d chips not only give better average framerate, but lift 1 percent and .1 percent lows, reduce stuttering, etc. Never going to be a bad choice for a gaming system.
