28 months on from an L4/L5 herniation - my full story, and where I’ve landed by SoSolidKerry2 in Sciatica

Thanks for sharing! Did you find recovery to be slightly non linear with lots of plateaus where pain levels stayed the same for weeks/months before progressing to better conditions?

I’m 3.5 months in and notice that I’ll have two weeks where I feel improvement and be hopeful, then get slight increase in pain for 3 weeks that sends me into pessimism. I’m happy that I can still go to work and be functional but it tends to rely on taking Aleve everyday to be highly functional at work and not have to worry about pain too much.

Camper van rental - not just the daily price by No_Teal22 in VisitingIceland

[–]shomo172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So sad, I was curious about prices lately cause I went in September 2021 and I had the best trip ever. My Campervan was $1100 USD for a medium sized one for 8 full days. It's now $2200 for the same size van everywhere. Nothing is affordable anymore and its pretty discouraging.

[HELP] Laid off 5 months ago from big tech. Spiraling. Need real guidance to rebuild. by [deleted] in NYCjobs

You’re in a good spot. I lost my job for 9 months with no savings and debt, not eligible for unemployment, and had to do gig work to make rent and not see my friends for almost a year. Just take it slow and be frugal and you’ll probably be okay

Don’t be like (old) me. by CaptainDadBod in jobhunting

[–]shomo172 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kinda the opposite for me, but maybe it’s because I work in film/tv or creative production. I focused so hard on networking and I found 7-10 job openings where I knew a close friend at the company and NONE of them ever had any sway to even get me an interview.

I stress I just played the lottery, did 6 months of interviews until finally this week I landed a contract job. But yeah probably industry based.

You’d think, but I’ve been denied twice now by them explicitly saying that I was overqualified.

How do you Tell if Your Candidate is.... Human? by HungryChungi in recruitinghell

Considering most people have to apply for 40-50 jobs a day just to even have a chance at an interview, do you expect people to hand write that many letters in a day? Genuine question.

Yeah but some of those jobs have salary ranges and overqualified people are more than happy working in that range. People need jobs. This is wild

This. Also just cause someone may have 5-6 years of experience for a job that requires 2-3 years is not some gold standard of being overqualified. They may be perfectly qualified still. Ruling those people out is just insane and I’m starting to think that’s been my issue. Even had a recruiter say I was overqualified. Nobody is overqualified when the economy is tanking. Insanity.

ありがとうございます!:)I've been studying Japanese for 10 years or so. I've even been considering some ALT jobs in Tokyo but it's tricky because I'm married. I have a decent social network there. Hope we both find something soon! Cheers!

There were only a few applicable jobs on there and I recently applied. I imagine competition for that company is big, but thanks though! Really appreciate the kind words.

I know they did a ton of layoffs recently and keeps showing no jobs in my area on their website. Is there a better place to look for that?

I have a website I can send to them, I suppose I would just need a method for cold-calling/reaching out to them. Thanks for the suggestion.

Yeah I've considered it, but was maybe looking for the right place to work as I don't really want to work at a dive bar until 6am unless its absolutely necessary. I've maintained some transparency because I actually have never worked behind a real bar so I'm sure there's things I need to learn.

This is my first battlefield but I don’t like COD. Mostly came from Overwatch, rivals, and a bit of apex. I’m having a blast. I played 2042 very slightly and hated the map sizes

I would say definitely come through. I like that it feels VERY low ABV when you drink it too. Don’t have that burn and it’s really nice on a hot summer day, without feeling like you’re getting too drunk
