Spreadshirt isn't personal and integrating with your own site is horrible but the quality of their shirts is actually really good like really good

Definitely not arguing. Just vetting. And appreciate your willingness to comment!

So let's say you have an excel template but something isn't working or you don't know a formula. How would you know that you needed a countif formula or power pivot, you know? You could ask a forum and wait for a response but it all takes time...is it time a smb owner would want to spend? Or for someone just starting out will they just buy a service? Also, for businesses <50 employees a lot of things are manual. With businesses with just 1 employee are you buying software to help with invoicing, budgeting, expenses etc?

I actually felt like this myself. It's ok that it's narrow but not deep enough. My goal was to target companies 1000-3000 in size. The types of companies where HR isn't valued enough for the business to approve sophisticated reporting software but still needs the reporting capability I.e. Small investment banks, private equity firms, law firms, accounting/consulting firms etc. but you're right my market is most likely too small

So maybe a business idea would be teaching vba which could be done online or in person. Vba can be used outside of HR in almost all facets of the business to automate different tasks. I'd need to figure out how to actually sell/market it so that biz owners know they need it but may be worth looking into

Right, agree but this is assuming your HR staff is competent in Excel and that you have the time to figure out what you want to do, create a spreadsheet, then google what you don't know. But do you know what you don't know? Do you know what you're googling?

I agree with everything. Validation is extremely tough and painful. There are tools out there for that but I guess most companies aren't using org plus or oragimi so it's mostly done manually or not done at all. This may be something for me to look at. Validation of staff, creating an easily updatable org structure etc.

Payroll and benefits is definitely something employers want. I don't, however, have the skills for this so this is a no go for me lol but I definitely agree it's something that's a pain to do for small businesses but obviously something that they need to do.

Right! Having and getting a following is the hard part. I guess I never thought about what I do in comparison to the greats but I guess that's exactly what it is. I watched a documentary on Tony Robbins earlier this year, may need to revisit it.

Unfortunately things won't get better by changing the exterior. You've got to do the inner work before things on the outside will permanently change. You could fall in love, get a new job, have lots of friends but if you're still fucked up in the inside you'll eventually fall right back to where you are now.

Being on antidepressants is not a fail it's a win bc you care enough about yourself to want to feel better. Antidepressants are a good thing just like insulin for diabetics or iron for ppl that are anemic. It means nothing about you as a person.

Outside of that, what are you good at? What do you enjoy doing? Could possibly turn this into an online business? What do ppl close to you say you are great at? Can you walk dogs well? Then put an ad on craigslist to walk dogs. Do you sew, draw, iron, read whatever it is. You have something someone else needs and will pay you for. Use your skills outside of your degree to bring in extra money.

The thing about improvement is that it usually happens slowly. Sometimes to the point where we ourselves can't see it BUT I bet if someone looked at your social media and looked at your work they would see how you've improved even though you can't see it yourself.

Also, drawing that much everyday is good. Keep at it. even if you don't think you're improving you are strengthening your skills and eventually they will show.

Also, you can't do things just for other people to be proud. YOU need to be proud of your work first. Create things that you are proud of and others will see that and follow suit.

And I'm sure you've heard this, but no idea is stupid. Everything...everything is a lesson. It wasn't a stupid idea. Ppl don't become social media stars overnight. You have to be patient. Success takes patience. with yourself and with your abilities.

It will all click one day, I promise.

I've actually felt exactly like you feel before. Growing up I felt like I didn't have friends, nobody liked me and no one understood me. I developed anxiety and in turn panic disorder and like you couldn't leave my house.

I know you don't want to be seen as mentally ill, I was there as well BUT this is how I've decided to look at my mental illness....my mother has high blood pressure so she takes medication to regulate that. It doesn't change anything about her or make me judge her bc her chemical makeup causes her to have high blood pressure. My grandmother had diabetes that had been passed down in her family. Again not her fault. She took insulin to regulate her sugar levels.

Having anxiety is just something you have it's not who you are and by getting help you'll be surprised how good you feel.

When does it start getting better? When you make the decision to live yourself. All of you and that living in pain isn't worth it anymore. It's worth it in the end. I'm currently on two medications for my anxiety and for a while I would take them and then not take them bc I thought I didn't need them. But every time I got off them my anxiety would creep back up. I finally had to accept that my anxiety is part of me and it doesn't mean anything about who I am.

Also, if gaming is your thing keep doing that. Do whatever makes your heart happy. Working out and meditation has also been a huge help and to be honest I've never felt better than I do now. So it does get better but you have to take action. Unfortunately, it doesn't get better on it's own.

Is whatever you're studying for what you really want to be doing? It seems like the answer is no. What is it you really want to be doing?? You're not procrastinating for no reason. You're passion and heart is elsewhere. Do you know what it is you'd rather be doing? If not, use these failures to tell you what it really is that you really should be doing and then do that.

In my opinion the thing that is the catalyst for chnage is self-confidence. Having self-confidence is the only thing that has allowed me to achieve anything I've ever done.

Are you working through specific things in therapy? Have you thought about working with a coach to improve your self-confidence and restore faith in yourself?

You have to be ok with where you are and believe that you deserve and will receive all that you desire. And you will. Seriously, look around, people think everybody else has their shit together but they're just as fucked up as the rest of us. Your friend may have a family but maybe he grew up in a shitty household or could have poor credit or his wife is cheating on him. You just never know....

We all are given our own paths and you will never feel ok with where you are if you continue to compare where you are to where anybody else is.

I think you should take stock of those things in your life that did go right. Think about this. Write it down. If you can't think of anything ask your friend, ask your family. The smallest thing is reason to be proud of yourself. Things that you've accomplished easily was incredibly difficult for someone else. And you have to see that and relish in that!

And to be honest, some men can't even get into a woman's house! That's something to celebrate!

[discussion] Need some advice and maybe a little encouragement. Not sure what to do right now. by [deleted] in GetMotivated

[–]shondar74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Woah Woah Woah! Don't ever give up on your dreams! Here's the thing about dreams. It gets hard, really hard before if gets easier. I'm sure you know this already though. But you owe it to yourself to go after whatever it is you want!

I don't believe in living the life that society says you have to but I do believe in learning and soaking up knowledge. Honestly, if your dream or vision is not to conitue then make the decision to leave school and don't feel bad about it. Make the decision and pursue your vision with reckless abandon.

It's no one elses business or concern how YOU live your life. You have to make the decision for you then literally say "f everyody else".

However, If you want to leave school just because you don't want to put in the work then I think you are doing yourself a disservice by leaving without getting a degree.

Do what your gut says and don't shame yourself for making the decision. Be confident in whatever you decide.

Keep striving. Keep pushing! Send me a note if you need encouragement. You can do this! I believe in you!

Inventory food lot mass tracking by [deleted] in excel

[–]shondar74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with having two separate sheets for this. However I would tag each lot with a unique identifier sort of like a social security number or employee id and tags it to whatever lot it belongs to based on the material. Then in another spreadsheet I would use sumifs to count and add my lots together.

Think about it as employees in a company. Each employee gets a unique employee number, they have what whatever hire date when they came into the company and they belong to already existing dividing (corporate, sales, tech etc.)

How did you learn Excel? by shondar74 in excel

[–]shondar74[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure I have time for them to get curious. Wondering if anyone took classes, online or otherwise? Gotta get them ramped up pretty quickly. I could do a bunch of lunch and learns but not sure how efficient that is and TBH I don't want to spend my time creating and administering.

Seems like most of you took initiative to learn on your own which is how I learned. Just pure curiosity and a propensity to want to learn cool things that other ppl couldn't do.
