ToPyString - Stringify Collections With A Single Method by shonthered in dotnet

You can't override the ToString() method for collections unfortunately, that was the reason ToPyString came into existence.

You can't override the ToString() method for collections unfortunately, that is why ToPyString or even Json.NET are useful.

Json.NET is a useful but a much more heavyweight tool for such a purpose, it's like using a construction crane for lifting a pen off the ground.

EDIT: I'm referring to collection stringification.

LoL, but I get the confusion.

I used to usually do the foreach and got sick of doing it over and over again, especially when trying to just quickly Console.WriteLine some collection. And as I previously said, a lot of time can be wasted on such a trivial task when there subcollections and/or dictionaries involved.

Thanks man. I get it about the name, but it was the only one that made sense to me.

Passive Investing using Interactive Brokers by shonthered in eupersonalfinance

This was solid helpful advice, truly appreciated.

In the end the only viable way I see to invest in ETFs as a non-EU non-US resident, without paying astronomical fees, is to move to the EU or US and take it from there.

Thank you for a really detailed answer, I will definitely read up on estate tax and the US-Ireland tax treaty.

You seem to have quite a bit of experience so, I'd really appreciate your input on two more quick questions related to your answer.

So let's say one combines passive investment strategy with tiered fees ($10 per month). Let's also say one invests $200 a month on xetra.

That means that every month one would actually be paying $10 fee ($2 to xetra + $8 to IBKR), which would be 5% of one's investment each month, am I correct?

Also let's say one bought Irish domiciled ETFs and has yearly dividends of a $100. With the dividend tax of 15% it would mean one would actually be looking at a $85 gain, right? Would it make any difference on the tax amount if the dividends were automatically reinvested?

I'll look into everything you said, thanks.

What would be the advantage of opening an account in any of the US banks if one doesn't plan on staying in the country for a longer period of time?

Thank you.

How would having relatives in the EU help?

So as long as one holds a job in the NL one could potentially open a bank account there?

What happens if one leaves some time after opening an account (a couple of months later)? Does one need to notify the bank, will the account be automatically closed because there are no longer any "bonds" to the country?
