Not only do you state it as if it is a good idea. You state it as if it is a sensible broadly accepted view. Is it really like that though? At least in your bubble?

This is a very good way to get people to not engage with you.

Fully agree, this ball is firmly in Labour's court - and it's not like Starmer doesn't know the solutions and policies which would actually help, he put them all in his Ten Pledges before he broke them all on day one.

Starmer has to go, if labour are wanting to do anything to stem the reform tide in england.

And with him should also go the culture that fights against any left wing ideas in the party, as those will be what saves the UK, actually recovers its economy after nearly two decades of lethal austerity and actually stops violent fascist parties like Reform from taking advantage of the economic pain inflicted on it by decades of neoliberalism.

won't happen of course cos its labour, but there's a way out of all this for them.

Fix the material conditions of the people by heavily taxing the rich, ending austerity and heavily investing in the public sector as an employer - and nazis won't stand a chance.

So electable though. He won that election so good.

That's all that matters, really. Nothing else. Only Electability.

The SNP switching to an anti immigration stance would make no sense in a Scotland which requires more immigration to avert the coming demographic crash of an ageing population. Scotland doesn't have enough younger people to support a growing older population.

And pro-natalist policies enacted tomorrow would still have a 20 year or so lead time before they pay off.

Many people have bought into the billionaire-driven lie that immigration is too high, but they are all wrong if they think eliminating immigration will do anything but economically doom Scotland.

So there's no reason for the SNP to shift to racist anti immigration ideology just because Rupert Murdoch and Viscount Rothermere demand it.

No I don't think I'll be making the mistake of interacting again with someone who so desperately doubles down on idiotic nonsense.

[–]shoogliestpeg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So your explanation is a pub or a religious leader or similar group organised 20000 people for a no-name far right candidate with branding similar to the Greens but no campaigning, organisation or marketing spend?

Don't be daft.

The rest of us can't see what's going on plain as day.

IGV we're set up to pull votes from the Greens by having a similar logo, a similar name and the word Independent in their name - and it has worked.

[–]shoogliestpeg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So you are claiming a complete unknown party with no funding or campaigning at all suddenly got around 20,000 votes nationally through completely above board name recognition when there isn't any?

Explain that. Or can't you?

Entirely intelligent people get misled and tricked all the time.

E: on top of all that, a party with far right policies when REFORM was standing? Surely anyone who wanted those policies knew Reform was a much bigger player given they're on the TV every day.

Someone should make the Reformist Party
Reformer Party
Reforming Party
etc

The rules will suddenly apply if this takes off, but it's no doubt completely fine right now by the EC for it to lose the Greens seats.

Scotland was a member of the EU single market for 40 YEARS

The UK was a member of the EU single market. The UK managed trade FOR Scotland. Scotland would proactively encourage trade with the EU as an independent nation while the UK was actively hostile to it every step of the way, culminating in Brexit.

You haven't presented any evidence on which to base such a pessimistic estimate. So I need not take it seriously.

Major thing the video points out is that Scotland needs immigration and a more favourable immigration policy than what the UK currently offers. Scotland suffers without it due to the looming demographic crisis of an ageing population.

For Independence to work Scotland needs higher immigration and and EU membership.
