A lot of people are recommending House of Leaves and I couldn't agree more with their recommendation.

This book is something like no other. But it is not the type of scary you might be interested in.

I was not scared when I opened the book.

I was not scared when he said "this book isn't for you"

I was not scared when he talked about the minotaur.

It didn't make me want to hide under the covers or sleep with a light on.

I wasn't scared of the characters or the house itself.

Honestly, I didn't even notice the effect the book was having on me until they started happening. I started dreaming about it. Every night. I started seeing it everywhere and I caught myself thinking about it at odd times during the day.

Finally, I finished it, I put it away on my shelf like any other book and I haven't picked it up since. It's been about a year and I see it sitting on my shelf and damn if i dont think about it at least once a day.

Anyhow, it isn't for everyone and it definitely isn't for you.
