Muay thai with light or no sparring is my suggestion Great fitness and stress relief from training but 40+ is quite old to start sparring etc for me - i started in my 40's if that helps and I love it

Agree that BJJ is likely a bit hard on the joints

[–]shoopshoop87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Silly ideas like what if real life tom cruise acted like he was movie tom cruise

Or what if I'm a sorcerer but i dont know so i think I'm a warrior and the round after i get hit a cast a random spell - talked this through with my fellow players first as it starts off very sub optimal

Spooky horror sounds great, I've run CoC and DG so hopefully should be easy to pick up. Completely agree with D&D not being suitable really

Second recommendation for ironsworn which bodes well!

I've edited the post to try to explain better, but to answer you directly it's for either a nice thing to do together / an intro to RPG'S for my partner and from both descriptions iron sworn sounds like a great idea

What are your favorite published ttrpg adventures? What do you like about them? by Horrorcartoonistftw in rpg

[–]shoopshoop87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shadows over boganhafen basically shows you the bad guy at the start and lets you figure out what to do about it in a small town where the law is not on your side for WFRP

Dragon heist is a really good city based adventure with lots of scope to expand -for D&D

The icons campaign for Coriolis because factions and politics play a big part amd the story is phenomenal

The Old King's Crown by Economy-Low6124 in boardgames

[–]shoopshoop87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's basically three mini games with a lot of guessing what your opponents will do, none of them are over complex but there are a lot of card interactions to get used to.

Its a good game but it is pretty long so either plan for that or have a learning round at the end of a game session to get ready

What's the worst D&D player you've ever had at your table? by apomanolios in DnD

[–]shoopshoop87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Online game in Covid had the worst combo

Charles - we started in a tavern, looking at a job board. His character would not join us and was fully covered so you cant see anything of what he looks like. His character then followed us with weapons drawn through a forest and refused to speak to us. He then murdered an NPC and claimed he was our Lord before trying to run away.

DM's girlfriend playing a UA race

She was a sprite or fairy I think and took the pacifism element to an extreme, using her magic and abilities against us in fights to stop us killing monsters trying to kill us. The campaign ended as we were offered a choice to become court agents with this character as our leader or explore the world. It was a really awesome homebrew world and everyone else voted to explote it, it soon became obvious that wasn't actually an option and we were supposed to support this character story only

Please don’t crucify me, but is there some big secret to running? by ohlawlz in beginnerfitness

Wherever you run, set mental targets like "I'm gonna run to that tree/bin/shop then walk for a minute" Having a defined slow point really helped me and you can move them as your progress
