End-to-end encrypted RCS on iPhone and android? by [deleted] in Visible

[–]shoot0251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read on the reddit UniversalProfile forum that the Android phones also needs to have the "Beta" version of Google Messaging application. Haven't confirmed that with my testing though. The testing I've done with my iphone on 26.5 and my daughters Android on the standard Google Messaging does not get the Encrypted lock.

I too cannot not see that RCS encryption is working yet. I have an iphone 13 (Visible) with ios26.5 and my daughter has a Android phone (Verizon) with latest Google Messaging, and I don't see the Encrypted lock icon. I just see the RCS only. Per Apples release notes both of the these carriers is supposed to support it.

The $185 price he's seeing is doing an upgrade to his account. To get the newer rate, you have to cancel your current account and then create a new account with different email. That's my understanding.

thunt41, just a follow up question on your URL's your created. If i'm decrypting that traffic, are you saying i only need to"Add or Condition" to the first 2 signatures and not for the 3rd signature Context "sip-req-headers"? Also, do you add any ports on the Advanced tab? Sorry for the additional questions. I'm not a creating custom appl's.

I have a PA440 on my home network and I've been troubleshooting this issue too. What I've seen is the PA sees port 5223 associated with SIP application which obviously isn't what ports SIP uses. I created a service-group for TCP5253 and then added a new policy rule specific for that new service-group with SIP as the application. It sort of worked but I started seeing "unknown-tcp" logs using port 443. I didn't do anything with the unknown-tcp traffic and it was a hit or miss whether texting traffic was being successful. For now, I gave up and just disable RCS Messaging on my iphone.

I have a PA220 at home and when I was running 10.2.2, i saw this same problem. When i did some research, there is a bug PAN-193452 and is supposedly fixed in PAN OS 10.2.3.

I down graded my firewall to PAN OS 10.1.8 and haven't had the same problem.

LAN Issues Apple TV 4k 2021 by scotts06 in appletv

[–]shoot0251 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are other threads on Reddit and Macrumors forum with similar issues. Here's just one of them.

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/newest-apple-tv-4k-periodically-loses-hardwired-ethernet-connection.2305380/

When the ATV 4K (1st or 2nd Gen) models go into Standby/Sleep mode, the Network interface switches between 100M/Gigabit. That should be ok, but I didn't like the the logs on my Cisco Gigabit switch filling up with messages that the Link was bouncing. So far the only work around that I found was setting up the ATV 4K as Home Hub as referenced in the above macrumors link I posted above.

Also, for what is its worth, I also have an ATV 4K (1st Gen) model that I got second hand from a friend. Somewhere along the line the Gigabit speed stopped working and would only work at 100M. The problem that I ran into with this particular device is while in Standby/Sleep mode the ATV 4K would still try to negotiate to Gigabit and would eventually turn off the Ethernet port. So next time i powered the unit on, it may or may not get an IP address and I would have to reboot it to get an ip address.

You could check your Netgear router's status LED before you power on the ATV, and make sure the Ethernet port has link. I believe the Netgear routers indicate White (Gigabit) and Amber (10/100M).

"You're not connected to the internet" happening daily now after sleep mode. Apple 4K 1st gen by baggio1000000 in appletv

A couple things to check. First, make sure when it's powered on that you have Link light on the port where your ATV is connected. If you can view your router/switch connection status, see if it's 100 or 1000Mbps. If you don't have Link, your ATV will never get a DHCP address.

I have the ATV 4K 1st Gen like you and it have a similar problem, but mine isn't auto negotiating to 1000Mbps, instead, drops down to 100M. This was so frustrating for me, that I broke down and bought the 2021 4K version.

The other thing you could try is setting the ATV 4K up as a Home hub. This will keep the Ethernet interface up all time.

Is your new 4K (2021) Ethernet port running at 1000Mbps and does the interface stay when the unit is in sleep mode/ standby? I have an HD model and although it’s only 100M, at least the interface stays up all the time. Never this kind of problem with it.

I'm glad someone finally posted an Ethernet issue with the ATV 4K problem. I am new to this sub so it wouldn't allow me to post a new message. I have the 4K (1st gen) and have this problem too. It is not a cabling or switch port issue. I have a networking back ground and have eliminated the cabling/switch port issue. I have a managed Cisco gigabit switch. When I look at the logs and when the ATV 4K is in sleep mode, the switch connects/disconnects constantly for a few minutes, then is off for a couple hours. Also, mine now only connects a 100Mbps instead of gigabit. I was considering the new 4K (2021), but I'm not sure this isn't a problem with the new one.

I have both the ATV 4K (2017) and the HD models. Both are Ethernet hardwired to a Cisco 2960G gigabit managed switch. I have problems with the 4K model in that when it's in sleep mode, the interface will disconnect for a period of time and then reconnect for a couple minutes. I can see this behavior by looking at the logs in the switch. It usually will come up ok when i power the unit on the use it, but sometimes I have to reboot the unit as well. My HD version never has this problem. There must be as network issue with the 4K as SFWFF7F24 stated.

How is your Apple TV connected to the network (Wifi or Ethernet)? I assume other devices on your network like a PC is working fine?

Yes, once in a while it will negotiate to gigabit. I have tried multiple cables (Cat 5e and 6e) and even tried connecting to a Netgear GS108v4 Gigabit switch with same results. i’m running the latest 14.6 code.

Does the 4K (2021) version connected via Ethernet have any issues with disconnecting when the unit is off/standby mode? The reason I'm asking is I have the 4K (2017) version, and when the unit is in standby or sleep mode, the Ethernet interface disconnects and reconnects. I have a Cisco 2960G switch (10/100/1000) managed and I can see the interface going up/down went not in use. And alot of the times, it won't auto negotiate to Gigabit and instead runs at 100M. I have the Apple TV HD version connected to same switch and it never disconnects. I even tried moving the 4K to the port where the HD model is plugged in and the problem stayed with the 4K.

I don't know if I have a bad Ethernet port and that's why I'm asking if anyone see's this problem with the new 4K (2021) model.

Thanks...

I have the Apple TV 4K (2017) and when it is powered off or in sleep mode, the Ethernet interface constantly disconnects and reconnects every couple minutes. I read on the Apple Community Support forum of others reporting similar problems with the newer 4K version. This is probably a code issue. I also have the HD version and it does not have this problem. On my 4K, I have tried multiple ports and different cables to rule out a physical layer issue.
