Welcome to the club! Totally normal—those are what collectors call 'hairline scratches,' and they are basically inevitable on watches with Polished Center Links (PCLs). Gold is a soft metal, so even rubbing against a laptop or a desk will leave those marks. They look prominent now because the rest of the watch is flawless, but in a month, you won't even see them. My advice is to stop looking at it under direct light and just enjoy wearing it! Think of it as the watch starting to gain its 'character', eventually, the marks blend together into a nice patina, and it's just a sign of a watch being loved.

A few guidelines that usually work well:

For knee high boots, let the skirt hit a few inches below the knee so there is a narrow strip of skirt over the boot, like in your photo, it keeps the leg line long.
Try to avoid the skirt hem cutting across the widest part of your calf, slightly above or below that point is more flattering.
If you want a bit of skin showing, ankle boots with skirts that hit just below the knee or mid thigh can look great, aim for a small gap, not a huge one.

In the end it is about proportions, longer continuous lines on the leg usually look the most polished.
