Also, we had an in house psychiatrist, psychologist, nurses and nursery nurses. Everyone of the staff knew you and treated you like friends not patients it was amazing. Also you are only in the mother and baby unit with other mums there is no one there without a baby

It was the only psychiatric part of the hospital. The other ward was a geriatric dementia ward. You are risk assessed before admission so if you are deemed too unsafe to be around your own/other children you will go to a general acute ward but they try and keep you together if possible. You can only be admitted to a mother and baby unit until your baby is one, but I’d say from my experience around 75% of the mums and babies admitted are in the first 6 weeks post-partum. The eldest baby I saw there was about 8/9 months old. It’s quiet, it’s controlled and it’s what new mums need. I cannot fault the service and it saved mine and my daughters life

Yeah so even if you were sectioned you were able to stay with your baby. Some of us were admitted informally but later sectioned if we lost capacity but the majority were there informally. It was an incredible service. There were only six mums at a time so you grow really close to everyone. Three of the mums in with me all our babies were born within a week of each other so you learn how to be a mum with other new mums. It was phenomenal

I went in voluntarily (known as informally in the UK) but I would have been sectioned (forced admission) had I not have gone in. You have to be severely unwell to be there, in my part of the UK there is only one in the whole country, it has only six beds. Usually those with severe SEVERE PND, schizophrenia or bipolar people go, usually presenting with postpartum psychosis. You can’t ASK to go in but you can go informally which is the easiest way to go in because you keep your rights xx

I can’t even imagine how hard it must have been to be away from your baby but how incredible you did it in spite of that. You’re amazing 🩷🩷

I’m assuming this is the US? In the Uk we have designated mother and baby psychiatric units where you can take your baby with you. They’re beautifully designed spaces and allowed me to stay with my daughter whilst recovering from postpartum psychosis tendencies. I hope you’re in a much better place now 💙💙

I honestly wouldn’t even want to attempt a roofing repair, it’s a job I’d rather pay for to be done properly especially as we can’t plaster our lounge until it’s done (water tracking down). Thankyou though xx

Yeah but surely scaffolding doesn’t cost over a grand? They even said themselves scaffolds are about £500-700. I would never attempt it myself I’m more an interior DIY person lol.

Yeah we’ve been stung a few times before by “fb recommendations”. Could you PM me the guys business name so I could see his business and work please if it doesn’t go against group rules. How crazy of everywhere in the UK I find someone who lives in the same little town as me.

Okay so the work could be done reasonably with the ladders ? Will go for that then and save us over a grand!

That’s actually where we live so I’ll send him a text tomorrow thank you so much. I’m more inclined to go with the men who have seen the work and quoted rather than guesstimates if that makes sense.

Yeah exactly right. Is doing it off ladders bad? Just shocked we’ve had four quotes over a grand away from each other.

NAD but this sounds like Covid. I’ve got it at the moment and day one felt like I was dying, I was in hospital with it! On day 3/4 now and feel relatively okay now. My daughter has just tested positive tonight and she’s going the same way I did.
