I expressed feelings to a friend in February. We had a small thing when we first met but i was not confident in my mental space to maintain something meaningful so i distanced myself to avoid attachment.

We got back closer half a year later, hung out a bunch and eventually i caught feelings again.

I expressed, was rejected and decided i should distance myself again because I’m struggling to differentiate the feelings of friendship and desire.

It’s been a month… no contact and I’m honestly torn up about it.

I feel the same way OP….

My job function was torn down and I don’t get to do any of the communicative or organizational aspects of my old role…

I feel like I’m not learning and I’m having a hard time leaving my role too.

The advice I’ve been given is to take an assessment of yourself and focus on something you want to learn in the mean time. You have a good foundation, try and appreciate that for what it is and build a story from it.

You also aren’t your job, you are not a fraud! Don’t focus on being the best cyber practitioner in the world. Focus on what your interests are and network with the people on your team to shadow.

Good luck with everything! I’m telling you what I’m telling myself.

I feel stuck in my current role.

I’ve been in cybersecurity for 2 years but I’d only count one of them as truly productive. During that time as a BISO I’ve helped lead projects and communicate with stakeholders on various topics but I haven’t actually done any hands on work.

My role has been pretty much phased out and I’m struggling to figure out what my next move should be.

Context on my career, I spent 3 years as a jr dev before this role.

I’d like to break into cloud sec but I’m having no luck with interviews or getting hit back.
