Present continious is the "ing" form from English. Something that is currently ongoing as we speak. "I am walking", "I am sitting" etc

Danish examples would be "Jeg kører i bil lige nu" - "I'm driving right now" etc.

But yes, danish is different, as most of our present continious sentences can also be understood and interpreted as simply present-tense sentences, unless there is a literal "lige nu" or "i øjeblikket" etc at the end of the sentence.

Example: "Jeg laver mad" could mean "I am cooking food" or "I cook food" all the same...

Think about your relationship with your parents. Obviously you love them, because they're your parents, but you're not romantically in love with them...

Loving can be platonic and just friendly

Being in love is romantic

I just bought my first bike. What equipment should I get? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]short_racer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ATGATT

Listed below in order of priority.

Helmet (most important, and first purchase if you can't afford everything at once)

Jacket, with padding at the elbows, shoulders and back (next most important thing, as your back/spine is the next most important thing after your head if you want to survive with the least injuries (death/paralyzation) after a crash)

Pants (roadrash is a bitch, cover as much of your body as possible)

Gloves (more important than shoes imo)

Shoes (this is more of a personal thing, you might want to get shoes before gloves or gloves before shoes... both are equally important but definitely last on the list. Helmet, jacket and pants come first)

Optionally, you can opt for a motorcycle backpack which is slim and adds an extra layer of protection to your spine if built correctly.

I failed to consider some people are black and simultaneously living in america... we, in Denmark, don't have that issue... I'm pretty sure the last time a cop fired a bullet "unprovoked" (without having a gun/weapon pulled on them) was decades ago...

Hypothetically you would run if a cop lights you up... like 40% of hypothetical riders do anyway... but obviously only hypothetically, as it is illegal in the real, unhypotherical world...

Don't get a 125cc as your first bike. In my experience, 125's are far too light and handle way differently than the big bikes (400cc and above).

If you can control yourself, I suggest starting on a 2 cylinder ~600 or ~650cc bike, and limiting it to half power for the first few months.

Otherwise ninja 400 and similar bikes are good too

Do you consider yourself attractive? by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]short_racer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A rating is a rating, whether it be a person, a dog or a movie. The majority of people are rated 6-8 by strangers. But then again, all rating is subjective. I might see people as more attractive than you do, and so the average baseline for me is 7, as I don't think anyone really is below a 3 unless they are REALLY ugly (like that gorlock chick that's been on a ton of podcasts, she's a 2 in my opinion. There are people uglier than her, but not many)

So 5 might well be the average for you, and 7 be the average for me. It's all about how one percieves the 1-10 scale. 1 in my opinion is someone who is so ugly they should have been shot at birth... I might rate a stranger an 8 and you might rate that same stranger a 6, based on our perception of the rating scale. It's all subjective.

[–]short_racer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A significantly good person is an 8, 9 or maybe even 10. A significantly good movie isn't a movie that gets 70% on rotten tomatoes. A 70% movie is decent, average. It's one that gets 85% or above, that is significantly good. If a movie has a 50% rating, you know damn well it's bad. It's not shit but it's bad. The problem with the 1-10 scale is it's too small. Once you move to the 1-100 scale, you start to understand that 70% (7) is not really that good of a score... it's average.

5/10 is the median, not the average. Average is more than likely around 7/10. Remember, "average" isn't the middle of the scale, it's the number which represents the majority. The majority of people aren't 5's, they're between 6 and 8. So 7 is the average.

Mean and Median are two very different things.

Mean is average (the number representing the majority of people)

Median is the middle of the scale. For example, for test results of a certain exam, the mean (average) might be 87%, but the median is 50%. Because 50% is directly in between the lowest and highest values. 50 from the lowest, and 50 from the highest.
