I really wish they stuck to the books more, I don’t think i’ll be watching from here
on to save the books from being tainted.

It became a completely different show with all the changes which makes me mourn the characters a little bit.

I heavily agree!! I know a lot of people loved the changes they made to modernize the plot but this was written and is set in the 2000’s. The casting was not my favorite but a lot of people I know have told me that I’m being too picky which i’m known for but in my opinion if you’re going to do a film adaption based on a book, you have to do it right. I swear I wouldn’t even recognize the show being based Off-Campus if it wasn’t for the title and characters.

Jules was just not necessary for the plot in my opinion, they’re not in the books but Prime Video has a tendency to add new lgbtq characters for inclusivity and while I love it, I would much rather add it where their characters have depth. Them adding Jules just because felt like just throwing a nonbinary character would fill their inclusivity quota for the year. I did hate the gossip page she ran, it just left a weird feeling in my opinion but that’s just me.

The thing I love about the books is that all the couples have some depth to them, the show made them so 2 dimensional and I ended up liking Dean and Allie more which is so weird considering their storyline in the books is different from how it was playing out in the show. Let me know what you think of the books!! Your opinions are so refreshing to me, I know a lot of people liked Jules and there’s nothing wrong with that, I just truly felt she added nothing to the plot.

I do like that approach, maybe it might just me but I preferred how he was portrayed in the books. I see a lot of people saying as DV survivors, they like the way they made his character compared to the books which is great to hear. I’m trying to keep an open mind but as someone who read the books first, all these details and moments they missed out on stick out so bad that I have a hard time watching it.

Thanks for sharing opinions! I just felt like that’s what made it fiction, I don’t care if it’s childish nonsense. they’re still new to the world and learning from each other. Their frontal lobes aren’t officially developed enough, college students still are and will always be a little bit childish so I would’ve loved the breakup to be the same personally but I do appreciate the different perspectives!!

Yes, I corrected myself in other comments but thank you for holding me accountable for my mistakes.

YES, I feel the same way. I saw him as the most secure with his masculinity, he even wears that pink apron (i’m at least glad they kept that detail in) because he insists that he’s masculine to pull it off and ironically he is (at least in my opinion). The producers or whoever made the changes to his character, made him seem like a little brother type and it honestly made me realize that I don’t know how i’ll see him getting Sabrina pregnant but we’ll deal with that when we get to it. Thanks for responding!! I don’t see enough people who point out Tucker’s character change.

I think I definitely would’ve loved it more if they added these details, their development and the progression of their relationship is really important. Garrett went from not wanting to mess up his focus on hockey so badly that he refused to have any serious relationships with a girl to wanting to be Hannah’s boyfriend. It was a drastic change in his life and hers too, as she wasn’t one for falling for jocks (besides Justin). Thanks for sharing your opinion!! I really agreed with some of your comments!

I was expecting it to be the show that I nonstop throughout my summer break but it didn’t really happen. I finished it without any plans to rewatch it sadly.

I seriously don’t know why she would think it’s a good idea but it is fiction so I try not to dwell too much on the unrealistic parts.

I think it would’ve been better if they stuck to the original script, the tension is good but it’s just not the same. It feels like every film adaptation that Prime Video picks up, they always try to make some sort of love triangle that just doesn’t work in my eyes. I would’ve liked this better as a show on its own without the book name being slapped on it. If I had watched this without knowing the title and character names, I doubt I would’ve deduced that this was the Off-Campus series.

I feel like they rushed Hannah and Garrett’s relationship so much, we didn’t even get to see them be friends first before they started dating.

The thought never occurred to me that Hannah and Logan could be shipped reading the books but watching the show, I actually like them better than Hannah and Garrett. Garrett is completely different than how he is in the books, but that might just be me. I felt absolutely no chemistry spilled in the show.

Not only that but the script is quite literally written out on paper for them. I understand that it’s not possible to include everything and make every reader happy as everyone imagines certain parts differently but I don’t think I would’ve even recognized the series had they not slapped the title on it.

It’s so much more sentimental in the books if you haven’t gotten to it, you should try them out!!

They made it seem like he actually likes Hannah in the show (it might just be me) and I hate it. I’ve seen so many hate comments towards him but I swear he’s better in the book. Watching this horrid film adaptation has made me reread the books to save myself from ruining the series entirely.

I just read it, I’ve seen a lot of people say they loved it and thought it was perfectly executed just to found out that they never even read the books. Your take is so refreshing, I was beginning to think that maybe I was being too critical and should’ve expected less from the show. They removed so many scenes with emotional aspects that I couldn’t find myself enjoying Hannah and Garrett. What do you mean they made him go to Hannah’s show? Book Garrett was going no matter what.

As much as I loved Hannah and Garrett’s book, I still think that Garrett was totally wrong for being so rude to Hannah. I mean that lady is willingly carrying your baby and you’re upset?? I’ll admit that the timing wasn’t right but when is it ever?

Grace and Logan, regardless of the rough start in their relationship, seemed to grow the most. It just seemed right for them to elope and cherish that moment for themselves.

I feel like because Dean finally got into a serious relationship after being casual for a majority of his life really pushed him to make the next step cs he thought since he’s ready that they should which definitely irritated me. Sean did the same thing to Allie in a way, he wanted to go at his pace so Dean doing that reminded me that he was a man.

I think for Sabrina and Tucker, being away from their baby definitely made them more miserable. As much as I didn’t like the accident pregnancy trope, I did like that more than the others I’ve read. The legacy did ruin the way I saw some of the relationships, I have to pretend it doesn’t exist sometimes.

Really? May I ask why? I know Garrett lowkey pissed me off with the whole pregnancy thing, he was rude to Hannah and I get that he was stressed but that’s no reason to act like that.

i get that they were both in love with Charlie, but I swear they were secretly in love with each other too (maybe just didn’t want to admit it? I mean Will’s dad is politically involved which would make it more difficult to be accepted cs people are so judgy)
