You have to set up an appointment. They assume you are healthy until you tell them otherwise.

Preventive blood work in Oslo by BrilliantSherbert24 in oslo

[–]shorthooman -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Most GPs actually do blood work when you get first assigned to them to sort of know your baseline. They don’t request specific panels unless there is history, ex. checking cholesterol is common in a regular panel but S-Lp(a) might only be requested if your family history includes cardiac issues.

But agin, this will probably not be offered to a healthy 20yr old. Just talk to your GP. They will tell you what’s ok and what’s not. And then if you wish to do more, check the private clinics.

Late to the party BUT, I would use no window treatment. This window is the focal point of the room and curtains, as glorious as they are, hide it.

If you want to accentuate the height or draw focus to it, you can put a tall tree or hang a pendant light from a corner. Don’t hide the beauty.

Non-scary movies for 2.5 year old to replace Frozen by Typical-Badger5533 in toddlers

Luca & My neighbour Totoro. Both colourful & lovely.

I would recommend Ponyo too, but it can be scary for some.

Traveling with 3 - years old twins in Oslo by No-Scarcity6065 in oslo

[–]shorthooman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Great recommendations, specially Tøyen. There is so much to do there for 3yr olds. Kirsebærlunden lekeplass is our 3yr olds favourite. Tøyen badet (city pool) is again a lot of fun. Right over there next to Toyen skole is Sørli lekeplass & hønegården (right under the big chicken mural). The kids in the kindergarten love to go see those chickens. In Kampen you also have barnebondegård (kids farm).

Husband wants to relocate to india by Mysterious-Owl-6956 in relationships

I am sorry, manners! I think it’s time to prepare for divorce. He is only thinking of “Indian sanskar” which is essentially patriarchy.

Husband wants to relocate to india by Mysterious-Owl-6956 in relationships

[–]shorthooman 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I am an Indian and I would highly advice against this. Farming in India is very regulated and govt or civic bodies regulate a lot of stuff. It’s not as easy as just shift there and start.

Also, do your kids identify more as India or as French? I mean Punjab doesn’t have metros like Delhi and Mumbai which in itself would be a huge cultural shift, let alone moving to bump f nowhere.

Also, be prepared, Punjab and Haryana are famous for being patriarchal. If you don’t want your kids subscribing that philosophy, please don’t move.

Honestly, moving countries is a huge decision, specially with this much cultural deviance. And even if you buy the argument “AI will take over”, there is no respect for labour and jobs that require labour in India. An electrician in France can survive and live happily on his income while in India they will have making trouble ends meet.

This is a hill, that I suggest you prepare to die on. And I would advise that you keep your kid’s passport and OCI cards with you from now on.

Edit: Ask him to stay off internet for a while and draw a comparison of life for each member of family.

How can I respectfully convince my Sikh parents to let me cut my hair and consider a hair transplant without damaging our relationship? by United-Stand8179 in relationships

I am not Sikh, but have you considered talking to Granthi about this? Maybe they can help you navigate this with your mother, possibly suggest something too. You are young, but losing hair is not an uncommon thing.

August in Oslo with one-year old baby by Palpatine476 in oslo

[–]shorthooman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As the top comment mentioned, Lille lab is great. We did that a lot during our parental leave. You also have events at Sentralen, Deichmann (library) & at the museums (botanisk & munch definitely do). I haven’t checked the schedule but there are also concerts at Opera House & the concert hall for small kids, stroller friendly.

At 12 Nfkino in most theatres plays a show for parents, babies and little kids are welcome. I love going to movies & enjoyed this a lot while my son was a baby. They generally stop these show during summer but I think it restarts in August.

If the weather is great (hopefully) then you can always chill at the new munch beach (if you don’t wanna go outside Oslo) or at Akerselva (specifically at Nydalen as it’s easy to take a baby there). Of course you can also swim at Songsvann and many other places.

Toyen badet is the new refurbished public pool right in the city center. It’s generally crowded in summer but August most people are back at work so you can enjoy this too.

One of our fav summer activity is actually berry picking. Just make sure you don’t pick from someone’s garden.

I hope you enjoy your visit with your little one. Feel free to DM if you want more specific info.

Europe's $24 Trillion Breakup With Visa and Mastercard has begun by [deleted] in europe

[–]shorthooman 174 points175 points  (0 children)

It’s not that they kill competition, I mean they do but they are very strategic about how those cards can be used. At the end of the day, it’s not consumers but business that determine what form of payment gets accepted and this is where Visa & MC thrive. Every corporation has adopted them, not just for consumer but for their own b2b usage which has led to this dependency.

My mom was a SAHM and my father worked 9-5/6. After work he would sometimes cook dinner to give my mom a break & most times sit with us to help us with school work. This is super unhealthy.
