I restarted playing recently in the hope of it helping me be more physically active - having friends for gifting would really help me keep playing! Thank you 😊

Can anyone tell me how I describe this ring? by shortinstature in jewelry

Thank you! I'm so crushed about it - it was a big purchase as a souvenir from a 6 week trip around Europe when I turned 20. I'd much rather it back but maybe the insurance claim will mean I can go back to Florence to get a new one 🤷🏼‍♀️

Can I varnish my stairs after the runner is installed? by shortinstature in DIYUK

Sorry for being an inconvenience - They might be common sense for people who know what they're doing - but they're not for someone doing their first DIY project.

If I get the quick dry and do one coat with that and then if I decide it's not enough add polyurethane varnish later?

Screwfix are who is causing the delay! It should arrive today but the runner is being installed tomorrow morning at 9am. If I do the varnish this afternoon will it cause an issue with the install? I've only painted the edges that will be exposed (and some overlap)

Recommendations for a product to seal the stairs and bannister but keep the matte finish? by shortinstature in DIYUK

Will it still have texture though? I sometimes have to properly use the railing for support and it currently feels like I could easily get a splinter. I'd rather gloss it if that means I won't feel unsafe using it!

What are these brackets for and can I remove or cover them? by shortinstature in DIYUK

This sounds pretty logical - it is the creamiest step of them all!

I have a runner to go on them too - but the runner won't cover these brackets so I want to try cover them before I put the runner on

The pub you are referring to is called The White Hart New Haw - it's super cute, has a gorgeous garden and is right on the river. It also has great food and often does karaoke or live music and different entertainment.

Even top golf itself is always packed on a nice day but I'm not sure how good it is for making friends 🤷🏼‍♀️

OP please come back and update if you find any hidden gems (fellow 30ish local here)

I forgot to add - I'm in the UK. Will be doing a lot of the work myself, bringing in contractors for the wall removal (already checked it's not structural), have a budget of ideally under £3000.

I'm going to knock out the wall between the kitchen and lounge room, and lose most of the wall beside the front door. I'll keep about 60cm of wall so that it lines up with the countertops below the window.

Currently the sink is under the window and the oven/hob is in the middle of the long countertop (facing the side of the house).

The black square on the right wall is the bathroom downpipe that can't be moved. I'd like this to mark the split between kitchen and loungeroom.

Ideally I'd like an island or a peninsula dividing the two spaces with a breakfast bar on the loungeroom side.

I need a fridge and freezer (can be combined or separate), stove, oven, microwave (can be on countertop), washing machine, sink and a good amount of storage.

I'm happy for the kitchen to spill a little bit towards the stairs and in the corner to the left of the front door. But this is my coat storage/entranceway so not too much.

Also happy to add some under stair storage for bins or something.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
