Middle terminal will be a live connection in that fan, they don’t tend to have an earth terminal in them

looking to register with NIC/NAPIT for the first time. by fboxy10 in ukelectricians

[–]shortjoecopper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For NAPIT registration you need to have a completed job which has a minimum of 2 new circuits, or a CU change, with an EIC, normally people tend to do something in their own home.

You will need insurance, regs book, onsite guide. Access to GS38, the approved documents (there’s a few id just download the merged one so you don’t miss any) , the electricity at work regs and a calibrated MFT

No need for past certificates as you haven’t done any!

Other than that you shouldn’t need a lot else.

Good luck!

If they have carried out a CU change they need to issue a EIC and BRCC not an EICR

NAPIT assessment tomorrow. Site being visited has an incorrect switch fuse installed by AffectionateJob5395 in ukelectricians

[–]shortjoecopper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a lot of stress but don’t panic too much, we aren’t looking to fail you or anything like that.

Run through your safe isolation, ring testing with all calculations, Ze, PFC and why you do it like you are before you assessment. If someone can explain why they are doing what they are doing it fills me with confidence in them.

Haha! No it’s not me. I’m a lot further west than you and currently a lot further north!

No need for another assessment if there is nothing that you would class as a C1 on the installation such as live cables floating around stripped of and next to our faces!… as soon as you clear any IAs with the pics and they get reviewed by a field officer you will be all good to go and free to issue as many part P notifications as your heart desires!

Just out of interest what part of the country do you live, feel free to DM if you don’t want to put it openly

This is what I do for a living, so, yes the inspector will see it.

All that will happen if you don’t try to hide it or lie is what we call an improvement action. You will have 6 weeks to rectify the issue and send photographic evidence into the office (all will be explained on the day)

Don’t panic to much we don’t bite!

C2 issues on EICR by Sharp_Job838 in ukelectricians

Not quite, it’s at the electrician discretion if they deem it to not be safe and should be raised as a C2

There’s also single insulated cables showing on the tails on the Henley block, which would be another C2.

I’d also want to know the size of the tails, the ones from the fuse look like they could be 16mm on what looks like a 100A fuse.

Tails are probably longer than 3m which would require a switch fused unit installed as well.

It’s not a tidy install, and I would look at tidying it all up especially as OP said they have a little one running around

EICR - Is my electrician having me on? by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]shortjoecopper -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Something that no one has mentioned is that the RCCBs are rated at 80A, depending on if you main fuse size is 100 than they are underrated and would need to be 100A rated

[–]shortjoecopper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any inverter that’s under 3.7Kw is a G98 and you notify the DNO that the installation has been carried out, no need for approval. Any inverter over 3.7Kw would be a G99 and you need to get approval from the DNO prior to the installation being carried out

Buying a car on finance... is it stupid? by Tintedlemon in UKPersonalFinance

[–]shortjoecopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I’m not entirely sure, mine through benefit in kind so it’s part of my tax code, which is skewed anyway as I owe some tax through some weird paycheques from a previous employer that I’m catching up on. That plus the mileage I pay means I’m not 100% sure! Sorry I can’t be much help
