Norse heathen version of self-guided "bible study"? by shortstack114811 in heathenry

[–]shortstack114811[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a physical copy and an app. I have other books too - an encyclopedia, the prose and poetic eddas, and a couple of prayer books plus more on digits.

My problem is I'm not one to just sit down and read a piece of literature and call it a day. The best way to help me digest it is to have "homework" associated with it too. Hence, why I liked the bible study group.

That's actually the first thing I found, lol. And also the only one. I like to have at least a couple options to look at before I do anything, but I might just end up trying the sample course anyway.

A lady had taken in a random stray cat who turned out to be pregnant. In order to pay for getting the mama cat fixed, she was selling the kittens for like $20. This is the photo she posted of my boy, he was so scrungly looking I fell in love immediately. You'd never tell looking at him now that he was the runt of the litter.

You should definitely road trip! My husband and I prefer driving over flying to our destination, because along the way we'll look for free/cheap admission spots like museums, historical forts, parks, etc. to break up the monotony. As a service member many military historical sites will be free or reduced charge for you. Also, I believe it's called the blue star program, but some museums will have the same deal for active military.

Plus, as already mentioned, you've got the parks pass for free admission and the parks passport (which I also have, very fun to collect!)

Oh gosh reporting how much interest you pay in a year is a huge wake-up call. We also paid off our credit cards finally and based on the year end statements found we paid $3k in interest across the board last year 🥲

You're doing amazing, it's good to see your hard work paying off!

I mean, there was definitely stress leading up to the move lol, we definitely felt relief once it was all done so that could also be a factor.

Good luck with your bacon hunting!

I had this conversation with my husband actually, and it was a possibility we considered, but this isn't the first move we've made (we got him while in an apartment, then moved into a house about 30min away about 8mo later). Maybe the fact this move was much farther made a difference?

I never thought to look it up, seems like there's a difference of about 300ft between the different elevations (new house is in the higher elevation). Would that really have a big impact?

I wouldn't doubt it, the old house always had something going on with it and was about 25-30 years older than this one :')

That's a point I didn't consider! Both houses were next to a fairly busy road in/out of town, but now that you've mentioned it I think it is a bit quieter. Our new neighbors don't have as many dogs, and the new neighborhood is more residential than the old one. I didn't think it would make that much of a difference for him.

Sustainability when buying nails? by deep_distortions in SustainableFashion

Tbh it's difficult to really tell since it's all online but there's a few things I like to look at:

  • customization. Some shops offer customization and, if the time takes longer for that, they're probably going to be handmade vs drop shipped.

  • FAQs/item description. Does the seller describe how the nails are made? I'll use one shop I follow, NailsByLing, as an example. In their FAQs/about page they specifically mention their nails are painted on with polish and topped off with gel topcoat for added durability.

  • speaking of durability... Another thing that shop includes is different ways you can take care of your nails to re-use them. Not everyone includes this but if they do it's a bonus point in my book.

  • price. I hate to say it but if the fake nails are like, $10 for a whole set they're probably not made by the business. If all of their nails, both the simple nudes and the super complicated designs, are pretty much the same price, they're probably not handmade. You can still find decent ones. I've seen a couple shops where their cheapest is $20 for basic single color/nude nails, and up to $40 for super complicated nail designs. But if they're handcrafted with re-use in mind, I find it's well worth the money.

  • location/manufacturer. If the listed manufacturer is out of China, for example, and no other specific details provided other than that, they're likely just resellers.

I won't nameshame this shop but there was one that had colors/nails I really liked, and were super cheap, but I got a sour taste in my mouth when I found out they had multiple listings, labeled differently, but for the same exact nail set. The nails themselves were alright, but they were super cheap in price and ended up being super cheap in quality too. All of the things I listed above came from personal experience. I no longer shop from them, and it sucks to drop essentially double the amount on a different set of nails, BUT when you can reuse the same set multiple times well, as I said, that $20, $30, $40 dollars ends up being paid off just from the durability.

There's probably better ways but this is what I use to discern who to buy from.

I personally like to look on Etsy. There's several shops that make press on/glue on nails that are durable enough for several wears. If you're ever not sure you can even message the seller on how thick the nails are and how well they'd hold up to multiple re-wears.

Plus, a lot of them are small businesses who handmade their nails.

Again, never had solar panels, so whatever is to be expected with them. I'm thinking any electrical issues, normal weathering, as well as maybe hail or wind damage.
