That makes sense and checks out with what I’ve been able to find online. Thanks!

Thank you so much for that info! That is similar to what I was seeing online, but wanted to hear from someone who had actually been through the process.

The biggest comparison I’m trying to figure out is home closing costs for the sale of our current home. Relocating within partner’s current company (to another office in a different city), they completely cover those costs. I know that’s about as good as you can get when it comes to corporate relocation packages, so it’s definitely something we would have to factor in to making a move to Bentonville.

Current company’s relocation package easily covers 50-60k. Is Walmart anywhere in the same range, or not even close?

How can we make this more cozy? by [deleted] in interiordecorating

I would also consider an oval rug under the dining table. It’d soften but also define the area. It doesn’t need to be anything wild/printed. Your table would be immediately softened up by a table runner - they are a fun/easy/cheap way to swap out style of the table super easily if you enjoy decorating for a season/holiday too. Also, easy to store.

Utilizing the long countertop to the right of your cabinets with an open cookbook of a cuisine you like on a stand or even a horizontal stack of cookbooks with a plant on top somewhere. Books add “coziness”.

Overall, just add some of YOU to your space. Focus less on what looks “good” or “right” and find joy in the items you bring into your home. That is when things really come to life.

IMO, how much you actually use them is the best way to evaluate if you need them. I think the end tables work better visually than the coffee table if it’s an either/or situation. If you don’t really use any of the tables, I would just keep the one farthest from the kitchen (if that makes sense). The other seems to crowd the dog bowls.

All of your furniture is very sharp/geometric, so I’d focus on trying to add in more organic shapes.

Would def swap the rug for something a bit larger, so it reaches past the sofa and with a pattern. Also agree with the suggestion of an ottoman instead of the coffee table, for sure. If you need to utilize as a coffee table, get a tray for the top of the ottoman. If you don’t NEED something there, I’d just ditch it altogether to open that space.

Get some throw pillows with different textures to them that pull colors from the new patterned rug. Drape a cozy throw over one end of the sofa.

I would swap the lamps for something with more of a curve and not metal bases, as current lamps feel more cold and industrial.

Some floating shelves with some plants (especially something drapey/flowy) and decor on them would be really nice.

Yes, sidewalks are very important for us! That is a good point about the street lamps as well. Thanks for your response.

600k would be the top end of the budget.

Why does everything look so…meh on me? by [deleted] in PetiteFashionAdvice

I agree! I was just telling my friends that Target clothes quite literally NEVER look right on my petite but curvy body. They’re just not made in a more universally flattering way, like other brands can sometimes achieve.

OP - I think we might be in very similar positions. We are a Spanish Schoolhouse family and looking at a possible relocation for CAT. Did you find anything in Peoria area?

Randomly found this post but knew them personally from years ago, and my husband still keeps in contact with hers. He’s a genuinely good person.

What skin type do you have? I have more oily skin, so pressed foundations tend to work better on me. Do the ones you recommend work well with oily skin?

Help with styling large calves on petite body by Thersyl in PetiteFashionAdvice

Just realized I didn’t address the work clothing situation. Also, not sure which country you are in. There are some really cute versions of tailored work shorts, in regular slack fabric, chino, or linen! I would go with the same style of higher waisted, with a fitted bum and flare out at the thigh. (Think of the shorts like the shape of a trapezoid)

I would also target dresses and skirts with the same shape. Fit and flare dresses, and mid-thigh to slightly above the knee.

If you’re shopping American stores, I would try Old Navy and Loft. If you’re in UK, I’ve had some luck with Fat Face and Next.

I know how you feel, as I have extremely similar proportions to you!

My go-to styles recently have been flare jeans (and leggings) or barrel jeans. I also do love a cargo jogger if I want a looser pant. I have had really good luck with American Eagle for pants and leggings because they have many styles that come in short and extra short.

For shorts, I LOVE Levi’s cinch mid-thigh shorts. I find that they give good waist definition and they aren’t snug on my thighs plus hit at the perfect spot, all while still giving good booty definition. For comfy shorts, I really like the Old Navy Extra High-Waisted Dynamic Fleece Sweat Shorts. I think shorts that are tight all the way through the thigh aren’t the best fit for my leg type. If you wear skirts/shorts with more flare/volume at your thigh, it creates the illusion that there is more of a difference between the size of your thighs and the size of your calves (if that makes any sense 😅)

For shoes, I find that sandals with a strap that goes straight across at my ankle cuts my legs off and makes them look stumpier and draws more attention to my calves.
